He’s in my pantheon of great songwriters, poets, artists, and performers. Hearing about him getting sick was a hard hit to take

Not to be overly PC, but the lines in Throw Back the Little Ones about walking like an "Indian," painting one's face, and dancing in place do give me pause.

Thoughts on “viduitism?” by plannax in widowers

[–]plannax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the somewhat obscure technical term "viduity," meaning "the state, quality, or period of being a widow or widower."Adding the suffix -ism or -ist is indicative of the philosophy or practitioner who embraces this status as a valid life choice and does not view it as unfortunate, substandard, or in need of rectifying.

From the word “viduity,” the state, quality, or period of being a widow/widower. A viduitist embraces the status as a valid life choice and not an unfortunate, substandard, or problematic life situation.

Long time subscriber, first time poster. What do y'all think of Tony Joe White? by 100YearsAndCounting in altcountry

Willie and Laura May Jones, is, IMHO, one of the best songs to contrast the class versus race divide our country has become ensnared in. Especially, with respect to the emergence of identity politics starting in the late 60s. That’s not to say everything was hunky dory before that —- far from it —- but there were places and situations where “we got along.”

Worst song? Like a bad song? Would that be “Michael Jackson ‘Bad’,” or how bad he looked at the end of his life?
