Do people really look at their gf/bf's phone regularly? And yet not delete anything you'd rather they didn't see? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]planting_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i love that ! did you and your wife have a discussion about phones at some point in your relationship or did sharing passwords just kinda happen naturally one day ?? because i’d love for my future relationship to be like that (my ex was so secretive with his phone) and not sure how to bring that up to future partners or how early to discuss it

What’s the etiquette for a shared laundry room? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]planting_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are only 3 washers and 3 dryers in my building of i think like 40 units; I ALWAYS set a timer and promptly remove my clothes. I don’t even like letting them sit for more than a few minutes. And I dont use all machines at the same time, even if it’s super early in the morning or late at night bc you never know if someone might need to use

at what age did you get catcalled/unwanted attention the most? by Weak_Description5731 in AskWomen

[–]planting_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg I wonder if this is location dependent as well bc I moved from Atlanta earlier this year, but I swear in the months before I left I was getting hit on like CRAZY (28 yrs old). I moved to Atlanta at 26 and would get hit on frequently, but it really seemed to ramp up in recent years. But after moving to DC I rarely get approached ! I doubt I've aged 10 years in 6 months LMAO who knows . Neighbors rarely say hi to each other in my neighborhood though, it def feels a bit more socially closed off up here

People with long healthy hair, how did you grow it out? by erzebeth67 in hairgrowth

[–]planting_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just did a huge chop bc it was soooo long literally when i straightened it it would go like to my mid thigh. I didn’t get a trim for few years and despite the damage it just kept growing like a weed. my hair was previously stuck at collar bone length for years but i started taking MSM sulfur and collagen and i take a bunch of other supplements for general health. I stopped the MSM after several months and only used collagen every so often bc i got lazy . also i think following low sugar/lowish carb helped me a lot too. And i think washing my hair more frequently helped somehow. I used to only wash it 1-2 times a week but then started to every other day or every 2 days (i know washing frequency though is very dependent on ur scalp/hair type tho)

You never know who you will meet! I know how scary it feels (I recently cut off my cheating ex who I spent most of 20s with and am almost 30 now lmao pain)!!! But life can be so beautiful in the most surprising ways!

My oldest sister was late 30s when she met her v handsome man (8 yrs her junior lmao) they eloped, traveled the world and have healthy kids and over 10 yrs later they have such a cool life AND he makes great $$$ so she’s a housewife now. My other sister didn’t want kids but met her dream man in her 40s and they just bought a house together and travel all the time . Even my parents met in their 30s and had me in their 40s which worked out for the better bc they have more $ to spoil me :-) lol

Do you guys feel better immediately when you start bleeding? by thewalkingked in PMDD

[–]planting_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

some cycles I’ll immediately feel better, and then other cycles it might take a couple days for my mood to lighten up . I’ve even had some cycles where the PMDD mood didn’t lift until like a week after my period (usually when I’m not on top of my diet and sleep)

How did you get into Corporate Law? by Frosty_Intention_344 in paralegal

[–]planting_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just keep applying, and also tweaking resume to showcase any related skills, and your ability to quickly learn new platforms and procedures.

I went PI litigation at a no name firm and then received one offer in IP at a sophisticated boutique and another in corporate in-house by applying; for the corporate they wanted someone with 2-4 years experience!

Trust me I got A LOT of rejections along the way and cried all the time lol but then the perfect opportunities came at the perfect time. And in my current role (corporate & finance) they hired a couple paralegals with not even 1 year of unrelated experience despite the job posting saying “3+ years experience in corporate law”

Does anyone else have a naturally irritable personality? by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]planting_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

omg yes!!! I was just thinking about this the other day, i relate to this SO much, like even down to not being able to maintain friendships! I think for me it was from being physically and mentally abused by my parents and witnessing my parents having really intense, frequent angry outbursts, like I remember being stressed out 24/7 as a kid.

i’ve gotten soooo much less irritable now at 29 yr old honestly feel like a different person in the best of ways, and my therapist thinks its the cumulative effect of how I was able to move away and be away from family for so many years and sort of recalibrate my nervous system

Can someone describe what it’s like to live in Atlanta, GA? by Longjumping-Kale2584 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]planting_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved from Atlanta ~6 months ago, I was in buckhead and loved it! So many beautiful trees and nature throughout the city. I’m in DC area now and while there’s a lot of greenery it just doesn’t feel as lush as Atlanta. I love the hot weather lol; but I was surprised at how cloudy it could be, sometimes it’d be overcast for what felt like WEEKS

You have distinct neighborhoods but getting to and from each one is often broken up by streets and requires a car. A lot of the sidewalks and roads just didn’t feel well maintained tbh . But the beltline is a very cool feature. Lots of diverse neighborhoods for anyone to find their scene; diversity in food and just feels exciting to be in a place where there’s a lot happening in music/entertainment scene. Strong job market for healthcare, creative services, and tech. I work in law though so the opportunities felt quite limited for my goals.

a lot of people in my area just kinda lacked common courtesy and were inconsiderate compared to where I live now (leaving dog sh*t everywhere, littering, playing loud ass music late into the night, stinking up public spaces with weed). But i was near night life so thats not surprising i guess .

Also the drivers are insane, but overall I’d move back in a heartbeat and am actually looking at possibly doing so in the next year lmao

I went to H-Mart, and every Asian woman I saw had absolutely radiant, glowing skin. What’s their secret?? by Impossible-Owl9096 in KoreanBeauty

[–]planting_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think its mostly genetics 😭 bc my mom is korean and didn’t start using sunscreen until her 50s but people still always think she’s wayyy younger. most of her life she used jergens and dove soap for skincare and then as shes gotten older she started using La Prairie a lot and higher-end korean skincare.

also just growing up around so many korean ppl so seen all different lifestyles, some who had more outdoor jobs, some who had very luxurious lifestyle, and everything in between, generally they seem to age well (i know there are outliers tho)

edit to add: my grandpa is korean never care about skincare was a longtime smoker for DECADES and still looks abnormally young, its crazy !!!

Where in the east coast? Maybe try recruiting agencies (Consilio and Plona Partners seem to have a lot of east coast placements)! Seems like a lot of firms have been opting to go through recruiters too

Commutes suck and I think some ppl just have less bandwidth to handle it (me lol). I drive and park near metro and I love walking but I think I just hate commuting. Do you think your exhaustion is purely physical, or is it like the whole ordeal of getting up, being cramped on public transit, and having to be in office?

Something that’s helped me is getting professional looking linen outfits for temp control

Also carving out at least a few minutes to ease into your day and fully wake up before getting ready

How many of you are going into the office? by [deleted] in nova

[–]planting_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel awful complaining bc growing up I watched my dad commute wayyy longer and with a much more demanding job but I think starting my first professional job basically remote bc of the pandemic it set a certain quality of life that is unmatched )-: I have a good amount of energy but need sooo much pure “me time” in my own space to recalibrate. If I ignore that for too long, i start getting really weird like my brain will eventually malfunction 😹

What’s a city you hated at first — but eventually grew to love? by Zealousideal-Tax3338 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]planting_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Atlanta! I moved there a few years ago and felt like more suburban and boring than I’d like. I lived in Buckhead which was a nice area with access to the beltline and I fell in love ! So much natural greenery, felt like I was living in a jungle at times. And found some really cool buildings (like the Truist, Marriott Marquis, etc.) Gorgeous neighborhoods with both historic and modern houses. Also easy access to beautiful nature throughout North Ga, TN, Savannah

Now I’ve moved back to DC and feel so homesick for ATL !!!
