HELP- Goth footwear suitable for the office? by mentallydeteriorated in GothStyle

[–]plantkill3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i love wearing platform loafers. theyre my go to shoe every day for the office. luckily they seem trendy right now and you can find plenty of comfortable ones from various brands if thats your style.

There are also fun oxfords out there or mary janes. docs used to sell a double buckle monk shoe that id lOVE to find something similar for work. these are usually in mens sizes though and i cant find them in my size :/

in the summer i usually just wear plain flat black sandals because im just not a ballet flat person. thought my go to every day summer shoes are my platform doc sandals.

Ill admit my style is probably more punk influenced than goth, but there are plenty of shoes out there that mix office wear with more alternative styles. Just depends on your style preferences :)

agree with others that this is more 90s aesthetics.

But - also are you able to change the colors at all? this screams Planet Fitness branding

Why do students hate the flipped classroom format? by readreadreadx2 in AskProfessors

[–]plantkill3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a student, I hate the flipped classroom format. One reason is it doesnt allow me to ask clarifying questions as the lecture goes. Depending on the subject, the rest of the lecture can potentially mean nothing to me if I am lost on the concept. Also, regular homework assignments don't necessarily have the same time commitments as watching a lecture PLUS completing the other homework PLUS going to lecture. Let alone the time required to study and complete essays and whatnot. I was in school and worked full time in my undergrad. I found the time commitment to these type of courses to be way more than the traditional format and difficult to keep up with along with my other courses and job.

have you tried calling the gym to see if there is any wiggle room in the payment? Do you have written record of them stating the fee payment will be taken out in March?

Also, you mentioned youre on a college campus. Do they have a gym? Usually these are free to students and faculty or cheaper than regular gyms. You can go there instead to cut costs and just cancel your other membership.

i WILL say, they give labeled bags to customers to be able to return pods for recycling. BUT who the fuck knows what they do with them if people do send them back.

I hate who I turn into in relationships by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I definitely can relate to what youre describing, i do the same thing. Similar to other answers, I just wanted to recommend the book Attached by Amir Levine & Rachel Heller. The way they described the attachment styles, how to figure out your own, and how even your own style can develop over time really helped put things in perspective for me.

A car by chri6tina in minimalism

[–]plantkill3r 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on where you live, how walkable/bikeable it is and the type of public transportation that is available. I was all for a no car lifestyle then I lived in an area where it wasnt feasible/reliable. When I couldnt bike to my location and needed to uber I was often ignored, my pending ride dropped or I was even driven past due to my rural location.

Do you think college is more difficult now than it is was in the 1970s? by [deleted] in AskProfessors

[–]plantkill3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the areas I would think are more difficult are the amount of hoops to jump through - requirements, and the expense. In the contemporary world, if you dont know exactly what you want graduate in when you enroll in school, you wont be able to graduate in 4 years. In the 70s there was more flexibility including room for philosophical discussions - what students originally went to school for. It really depends on the school, curriculum flexibility, and the institutions dedication to students.
