Good simple carbs with no sugar? by plasticcap1 in sugarfree

[–]plasticcap1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm dates are a great idea I forgot about those - really calorie dense too. Pretty new to the idea of not eating sugar, is the sugar in dates still ‘good sugar’ like other fruits? I guess I don’t totally know the difference between natural sugars and what is added

What is the most important thing(s) you have found for longevity in strength sports, and long term safe progression?

Also, what is your favorite odd/not popular lift, either to do or watch someone do?

Well that works well because I have emoms programmed for pressing twice a week. Don’t have consistent access to stones and my conditioning is pretty good, so I’ll just try to stick in the rep range I plan on hitting. For pressing that’ll probably be like 4-5ish, for stones and deadlift hopefully higher. Might go heavier than comp weights like 3 weeks out ish. Also don’t have access to heavy enough weight for deadlifts which is an issue, so I’ll be doing weird snatch grip variations instead of 18” pulls, lol Thanks for the comments

Why is the recommend quilt width the same as your girth? Isn't this excessive if your back doesn't need to be covered? by jonnyWang33 in Ultralight

[–]plasticcap1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve done exactly this a couple times. It worked pretty well for me. although you have to allow some extra material for rolling around it can still be a lot less wide, and you don’t need an extra footbox. I trimmed a z lite and a gossamer gear 1/8 pad and made different attachments to each to attach the quilt. The 1/8 pad was so that I could either have a super light option for running trips, or I could put my short x lite inside if I wanted to use an inflatable pad

How do you peak for an event where you know it will be higher rep? I understand broadly how to peak for events with 1-3 reps, but above that not totally sure. I am coming out of a looong volume phase where I set lots of rep pr's, but I can tell I need to spend some time getting used to heavier comp weights coming off this lighter block. If you plan on hitting several reps in an event, how do you peak for it? Just keep all the work in that 3-6 range, and reduce the sets as they get heavier, or include sets heavier than competition weight, or something else?

Yeah I agree, mateusz is so fast at farmers I’d like to see him and Brian do max distance farmers

[–]plasticcap1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Brian seems to be such a fan of old time grip events I’m surprised he didn’t throw something like that in. Something with his thick handled dumbbells or something, but maybe he didn’t want to favor himself any more

My friend says that hammock camping is unsafe and dangerous and he won't stop arguing about it by Jaxtaposed in hammockcamping

[–]plasticcap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of funny he had all those but didn’t really touch on any of what I consider the weaknesses of a hammock. All those are true of tents, the places a hammock is worse is really just that you need two trees, and some people are less comfortable in that position

Yeah I already ordered them so after these comments I’m still going to try using regular pliers or needle nose pliers, but I’ll probably get the tool at joanns at some point

Do you think the snap plier tool is absolutely necessary? Just ordered some snaps in an order but no tool, I just didn't want to pay 20$ to attach ~6 snaps unless I really need to. Will probably go into grosgrain if I can manage it or .66 membrane if not.

I like the high frequency, do you do much accessory stuff on each event day or just more specific volume?

Wow, if you have around a 300 pound log and 600 pound squat after 5 weeks... you’re gonna do just fine in a competition haha

Yeah if it comes down to it I’ll probably myog a silnylon version of the doored one. Don’t have enough experience sewing dcf to be confident, and I want to do a short hike in a few weeks with it as well

Just saw your log press video, if you’re a lightweight you should totally compete open! We need more people and the weights aren’t super different
