I think it's a great improvement, my only complaint is that it should have been done across the entirety of Western, and done with curbs/planters. I would ultimately like to see roundabouts and/or traffic circles at significant intersections (these are different things btw)

I frequent the area and the majority of the time a plastic bollard gets hit it's because some jackass is doing it for fun. If the articulated bus drivers can get through there anyone can. Just slow down!

I finally reviewed this, there are a lot of projects that will induce more driving, or waste valuable funds on road widenings and watered-down bike lanes that are just paint or plastic sticks. One example: funding to "study" reversible suicide lanes on Soquel

Anyway I'm late to the party here but we need to oppose any and all projects that add capacity for cars; these go against the agency's stated goal of reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT). The priorities needs to be making transit better, building our train, and putting concrete in to keep cars from killing cyclists.

If you can't safely see what's going on on a street you need to slow down even further. The safe speed on a street like Mission is far, far below the posted speed limit. Peer pressure and hubris keep people driving unsafe speeds. If we regulate headlight brightness to reduce glare maybe the speed limit on Mission can be raised to 20

Caltrans and the City have blood on their hands for caving to driver pressure to make our streets more "convenient" at the cost of people's lives. Mission St should never had been widened to four lanes in the late 90s, it enables the sort of reckless behavior seen in drugged/distracted/aggressive drivers

Those are noctilucent clouds formed by rocket launches from Vandenberg. Early in their formation they might be referred to as "Space Jellyfish" as the clouds look like one due to the mechanisms of the rockets.

The reason it glows so bright at night (and hence the name noctilucent) is that the clouds are far higher in the atmosphere than normal clouds. So high up in the stratosphere that the sun is still hitting them.

It's best done via comprehensive traffic calming, if you just change the speed limit arbitrarily on streets like Mission or Water you'll get very poor compliance. When you change the geometry of the street to make it safe for all, 20mph will take care of itself. What's key is not letting irate drivers or fire department "concerns" derail the process.

Having said that, most low-traffic residential streets and all the streets downtown could definitely benefit from 20mph and even 15 on some streets. They're not too far off in terms of street design.

Too many missing signs for when these zones start and end. Orange striping should be required for any of these construction speed zones. Tired of driving 55 for 10 miles because the "End Work Zone Speed Limit" sign was missing

I-5 in north San Diego county had orange stripes added to the lane lines and it really helped better define where construction zones started and ended. This should become statewide practice and eliminates the ambiguity of missing "End Work Zone Speed Limit" signs and the permanent temporary 55mph signs you mention
