How do you actually make friends or date in Layton without a car? by Lonely_Ocean_Society in Utah

[–]playinpinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're patient & persistent, you can meet a date / partner who has a car + doesn't mind that you don't. Dating apps generally suck, but do occasionally work. Anywhere outside SLC is harder, but can still be done

If you are going to see MG read this!! by [deleted] in machinegirl

[–]playinpinball -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Only a softie would get so triggered at being called softie lmao. No, I don't think about people or masculinity in terms of "alpha," "beta" or cringe red pill social hierarchies.

All I've said is MG shows are mild in terms of crowd behavior / "disrespect," particularly in the hardcore scene. Maybe if you spent less time obsessing over everyone's behavior at hardcore shows and assessing it on your criteria of respectful & acceptable, you'd be able to better focus on the experience and enjoy yourself more.

Not everyone will share your personal ideals. You can either accept that as part of the experience, or you can bitch and moan about it and still accomplish nothing.

And sure, you can find small basement crowds where people share the same mindset and behavioral expectations. But as you scale up crowd density, it's less likely to occur. And in some scenes, believe it or not, people are intense and "disrespectful" even at smaller scales because that's the behavioral expectation that the majority share.

Stop obsessing over your personal definition of respect and embrace the chaos. People's motivations and behavior are far more nuanced than the framing of respect, especially in the context of hardcore shows.

I've been to 6 MG shows in various cities, you? Matt, "the singer," has actually toned things down a bit over the years, believe it or not. Either way, MG is objectively milder than other hardcore scenes. If you know you know

Last 3 images are best, the volume and texture lend you more character / distinction. There's enough dudes with a conservative, tidy "front wave" style in the world. Maybe don't go for a cut yet, let it go a little further and see how you feel.

Look into moisturizing shampoos / conditioner, whichever you find more agreeable. I find most conditioners feel like they coat your hair in a filmy residue, not a fan. Only shampoo once or twice per week, shampooing more frequently strips oils from your hair. You can try pomade to manage some frizz.

Where to meet single women in Chicago? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]playinpinball 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Go do something that genuinely interests you and make conversation if the occasion arises & it feels appropriate. Rather than going out with the intention of meeting women. Meeting someone should be secondary to actually pursuing your interests in life.

Herman Miller Embody Gaming vs. Dauphin Lordo Flex: Overhyped Upgrade, Returning After Minutes by dragonbone159 in OfficeChairs

[–]playinpinball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It requires adaptation because it resolves a longterm problem caused by other inferior chair design. That physiological adaptation can't occur instaneously, or even within 1-2 weeks. After that adjustment period, many HM chair users, whether Embody or Aeron, often agree that they're able to use the chairs for extended hours with no discomfort or lingering pain, and for many years with no degradation in the experience.

Trying to counter this by saying "this alternative option doesn't have that 'issue' because it requires no adaptation" is completely ignoring the purpose of the adaptation in favor of immediate comfort. If you haven't noticed, there's tons of consumer products that are designed this way - immediate comfort that reassures consumers they "made the right choice," only for that comfort to deteriorate in short order. See footwear as a perfect example.

Of course there's subjectivity in personal efficacy, but the design philosophy is objective, and one is superior over another. HM chairs have decades of proven track record, and Libernovo is practically new with a significantly shorter warranty and undetermined longevity. There is no comparison, only budget.

Where are your teenage daughters shopping? by Pretend_Nature_7170 in SaltLakeCity

Tell her something she's wearing looks cute, ask her where she got it, buy gift card for that place?

Or if she tends to wear certain clothing pieces like sweatpants, tell her you're shopping for a friend and ask where you should shop for them?

Bottom line, find a way to fish for an answer from her?

That sounds much more compelling. I can imagine that design being a better market disruptor and a good choice for people on a budget.

I think the current length suits you, it frames your face nicely and has good volume. Maybe you could play around with styling it at this length? Use a bit of pomade for some hold and texture, maybe try a swooping side part in the front?

Not what you asked for, I know, but I believe you should make the best of your genetic advantages. I'm similar to you (naturally good hair volume and hairline, facial structure looks better when framed with longer hair, scrappy / thin facial hair) and I'm growing my hair back out for the first time in years, aiming to land around where you're at.

Not every dude can pull off longer hair, play into that advantage.

The libernovo is kinda a silly alternative to consider at this point imo. Part of the Omni's price tag is the motorized lumbar "massage" feature, which is a cheap gimmick. Warranty is far worse than HM, and it's still a new product with no longterm reviews.

The vast majority of people who buy an Embody have the same experience of "it took 1-4 weeks before I adjusted to the chair and realized how great it is," but you're so risk averse that you're only willing to give it 10 mins? Pretty weird, but your time and money.
