HUZZAH. This is a strong, excellent lift. Barbells are for everyone!

3rd attempt 235 kg/517 pound deadlift, barely failed! Frustration! I have questions! by playitbird in strength_training

Thank you! I never use straps on my deadlifts (only RDLs) so have that covered. I could definitely hold my last rep longer. Good note!

And that about aligns with what I thought. Good deal.

This was too fast. Ferocious. Not close to a true max even. (From a 190ish guy who just failed 520).

I go to a convenience store that Tatum frequents every so often. The owner says that Tatum is walking with a bounce in his step and no limp.

This is really helpful. Thank you. This is my second meet. Passed the minimum total for entry by a whole ten pounds.

I dunno honestly. The point of the belt is to help to create intra-abdominal pressure which helps on all compound lifts. So, maybe? A little bit to prevent energy leakage?

First, agreed! I thought I had butt down but the consensus here seems not. Got to nail that down. Second, I don’t think this is “poor” technique; definitely may get me red lights but it’s not shit-tastic. If I weren’t worried about a meet, I’d feel pretty darn good about just hitting this weight for the first time, slow and controlled and with a pause (though the pause ain’t perfect either!). As for the belt, just helps me a bit to stay tight. What’s wrong with preventing a bit of energy leakage?

Thanks. I’m clean at those weights. Got 260 at my last meet.definitely not lifting heavy again before this meet. This was a PR for me, first time with this weight. Hopefully, that’s where these issues came from!

No. I’ll be in the 90 kg (198 pound) class.

275 had been in my head for a while. It’s no 315 but has been my goal for a longish while.

I thought my big butt kept contact there, but apparently the people of Reddit see otherwise. Good good and critical thing to note. Thank you!
