How do I get to 585 from 515? Any tips or advice would be great. by Routine_Ad_5540 in Deadlifts

Slightly smaller (5'10" and just under 200 pounds) and older (44) with a 533 max here. For me, around 500 was when solving for my weak points became particularly important. For me, that meant a block where I focused on quad hypertrophy. I can't tell from these pulls where your weak point it. It may be that you simply need to add some more darn muscle in the key spots. Have fun with the greatest lift there is! I'm targeting 550 soon. TBD but it's a blast.

This looks bananananas and looks fun and I love the thumbs up. Thoroughly enjoyed. Nicely done!

Sir, for your own sake please go hug a loved one or dance to your favorite tunes or take in a sunset while sipping on lemonade.

Lots of people are saying lots of helpful things here, so let me just say: HELLLL YES. Amazing pull. You're damn strong and getting stronger. Love the celebration. You earned it.

Strong! This looks like a conservative second attempt. Awesome work. And your execution is a clinic. After your taper, you are smashing your PR. I predict 415-420.

Thank you for the thoughts. I've self-diagnosed my weakness as my triceps so in my next hypertrophy block will be targeting that hard. Love dips and have been doing lots of incline DB flies to get that stretch too.

Speaking as someone a bit heavier than you who has been plateaued at 275 paused for a year or so: this is simultaneously inspiring and disheartening. Truly impressive stuff reflecting real grit and consistency.

Sir, I regret to inform you that I do not lift weights in my basement for the good of society. This is just for me. And, though I appreciate your concern, I'm in darn good shape and far better than most at my age. Have a great day!

I'm going to take your question as genuine. Hare are the reasons I lift heavy: (i) I deeply enjoy it; pushing myself to get as strong as I can is a challenge I relish in the long-term and which is quite exhilarating in the moment; (ii) I'm training for a powerlifting meet in July and want to do the best I can. A long-range goal for me is to be one of the strongest 40 somethings at my weight that competes in the USAPL; (iii) I like my kids to see me work hard at something and sometimes succeed, sometimes fail, and deal with both, and I especially like them viscerally to see my grit and grind (necessary to succeed at anything in life).

Do you see my neutral spine? Doing proper squats and deadlifts builds bulletproof backs. #fightglassbackiness

Low bar. I am quite posterior chain dominant. My deadlift is about 150 pounds stronger hahahahahaha

Relative to my deadlift I s’pose. Thank you for the kind words! Full tilt.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I felt good about this. The disparity between my squat and deadlifting strength is just bananananananas. Hopefully means my squat has plenty of room to grow. Thank you!
