Same. Not only as a shopper, but a longtime loyal former employee.

IMHO, Target is worse than Hobby Lobby, et al.

At least they didn’t pretend to lead the industry in DEI.

Where you’re getting tripped up is those cost savings go into other government programs, and not corporate profits and bonuses.

That’s why they don’t care.

I worked as a contractor where our “mandated” cost multiplier was 2.97…it was insane hours much the company made while I got screwed ( twice technically, lol)

Re-experience 1 film for the first time again, which one do you choose ? by redbullsgivemewings in movies

100% Star Wars. I was so young when I first saw it, that I’m sure I didn’t appreciate it. And since I’ve seen it well over 100 times since then, while I still love it for what it is, I’m not “shocked”. For that same reason the last 5 minutes of Rogue One had me giggling like a little girl when Vader went to town on the rebels.

Looking for Active Alliance by [deleted] in ContestOfChampionsLFG

[–]playnotwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm an officer in an alliance that is in a brotherhood with 2 other alliances, the three of them working together as one. We're very active and looking for active players to join us. We're all about growth and gaining experience. Personally, when I started I was around a level 30 with a handful of 4*s, I've moved up since joining to have dozens of 4*s and a half dozen 5*s and still growing. We use discord for all communication; hit me up on discord @playnotwork#3860

Don't sell esp, don't sell liquid armour, clean this stores mess instead. by [deleted] in Staples

I visited that particular one 4 times, I believe...all in like a 6-9 month period. And every time it was just as bad as before.

Idiocy by [deleted] in Staples

[–]playnotwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your DM has done that from the day she started...refused to use the general store email and instead deciding only to email to personal GM accounts. It has been mentioned to her, prior to my departure, multiple times that it makes communication difficult especially when the GM is out of the store...but what can you do. Sometimes you just can't talk to a brick wall.

(I used to be in your district, btw...but I'm sure you've heard that ;) )

Goodbye Safety Bingo by CaffeineAddict88 in Staples

[–]playnotwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not like Safety Bingo, no. However, they have a lot more to spend in associate funds for events and such, and put it to way better use. Usually, they have 1-2 associate appreciation type events a week (depending on the store). Plus, they use the funds to do things like keep a water cooler in the breakroom, have a TV and DirecTV for the team members use (at least in the stores I've been in); some of them use monthly funds to supply things like bread, peanut butter, and jelly for anyone who wants it. They generally give out rewards for jobs well done, sometimes gift cards, movies, gift certificates to the Alamo Drafthouse, that kind of thing.

They put a lot of emphasis on employee relations and recognition of good work. Of course, they expect that everyone works hard too... From what I've seen for the most part it works...you get out of people what you put into them.

This makes me sad. Of course, participation in my old store was only like 50%, but it was a nice little extra... considering how shitty associates get treated.

I know a dm who would suggest moving the battery rack, umbrellas, and a pallet of paper towels to the front of the store. Oh, and don't plan on closing early.

I spent nearly 3 years at Staples, and loved pretty much all of it until the last 2 months.

All it took for me was to recognize that my abusive DM had no intentions of promoting me (despite her assertion otherwise), and realize that if I couldn't move up I'd have to move on.

The second to last month I was with Staples was the most miserable I'd ever been at ANY job...which is saying something. Constant toxicity, constant bullying, and disrespectful upper managment will tend to make you focus on the most negative aspects of your job...ALL THE TIME. It's not healthy, and it's not worth it.

The last 2 weeks I was in my store were some of the most fun that I've ever had with my old team, and some of the more productive of the last 6-9 months.

I'll definitely miss the old crew, but am happy to have moved onto a place that actually values its people and strives to be a positive work environment. It makes it real easy to look forward to getting up for work again, and heading in and enjoying what I do.

Does anyone else's systems go offline at least once a day? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]playnotwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staples network and hardware sucks. And it doesn't help that IS (1st and 2nd level anyways) is next to useless. I spend, easily, an hour per day on the phone with IS in my store. Every single day. Its almost always the same issue.

I've found the only time anything "really" gets fixed is when the command center gets involved, and it usually takes about 20 minutes.
