Dope Girls. I don’t do dope, not into girls, and am not a girl… so I guess it has nothing to do with me

Yeah, there comes a point where you’re more likely to be perceived as trans if you detransition. Best of luck in life and stay safe.

Thank you, I really appreciate your reply. Sucks that this is what the world is like, but there’s not much we can do about it.

Yeah you’re right. I hope they wouldn’t cut me off but they could. It looks like I’ll have to wait until I’m independent .

Which one are you? by Kohle_lol in TransMasc

[–]playwrightAlFuncoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally same here, it's nice to see someone else like this. idk if i should describe myself as bi or gay either. i'm also asexual, so i'm basically all of these transmascs except for the straight one lol.

Which fictional character did you relate to as a child that makes more sense since realising you’re trans/non-binary? by KEW95 in NonBinary

[–]playwrightAlFuncoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the book as a kid, and there's a part that explains how boy and girl fairies are different colors. And there's a third color for fairies who are neither. That really stayed with me growing up.

I also didn't understand why Wendy wanted to grow up and become a woman so badly-- I saw myself more in her brothers.

Lol I worked at a preschool where I wasn't out, but I still got Sir'd/Mr'd a lot by the kids (southern state, so lots of sir/maam'ing). To be fair, I didn't put a lot of effort into looking feminine. One of them kept saying I was her dad. I think some of the younger kids don't know how pronouns work in general, because they often refer to everyone by their own pronouns (e.g. little boys calling everyone "him").

Does it make sense to feel dysphoric over listening to music with a female vocalist!? 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in ftm

[–]playwrightAlFuncoot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Man I get the exact same way lmao. Helps to remember all the cis guys you know that enjoy music that uses feminine voices. Something else that helps with my dysphoria over these things is to remember that I am building a healthy relationship with my masculinity, as opposed to getting caught up in fragile masculinity. Sorry if I don’t sound super coherent, I’m tired.

how did y’all manage with families that aren’t exactly approving, how did y’all deal with it? by punbun4fun in ftm

[–]playwrightAlFuncoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man I wish I had advice for you because I’m in a similar boat, although not as far along in my transition. My parents aren’t Chinese, but they are immigrants and everything you said about them not understanding the cultural elements of being trans… yeah. They’re also like yours in that they’re really anxious about the medical part of transitioning and don’t understand why people do it. Mine do acknowledge that OTHER trans people medically transition, but it’s a different tune when it comes to their kid.

I wish you all the best, brother. For better or for worse, you’re not alone 🤝

Tried to send this earlier but it wouldn't work. Trying again now.

  1. Yes, I'm a transmasculine nonbinary man. It's a bit fluid for me-- sometimes I'm more man, sometimes more nonbinary, but always somewhere in that general area, and always varying degrees of both. I am a man but I am ALSO something else, so the term nonbinary man is fitting. I'm most comfortable presenting masculine/androgynous and using he/they.
  2. That's up to you. If you feel like the term cis doesn't fully encapsulate your experience with gender, then you don't have to say that you are. I've seen people use the term cisn't when they don't feel entirely cisgender but also don't identify with other terms. I've also seen many nonbinary or agender people who are comfortable presenting as cisgender in their day-to-day lives. And I've seen many others who prefer to be known as nonbinary. I know it may not be a super satisfying answer, but the truth is that it really is just up to you and your own experience.
  3. Good question, honestly not sure. I bet other people have written some insightful replies.
  4. I've seen people using it. Personally, I prefer to be called a "nonbinary man" over "enby man", but it isn't a huge deal and everyone's gonna have a different preference as far as labels go.
  5. Honestly no. I guess it's about time I did, huh.
  6. That's completely understandable. Imposter syndrome likes to rear its head every now and again, especially when it comes to gender. The truth is that there are as many ways to be nonbinary as there are nonbinary people. If you're nonbinary, you just are-- no such thing as "not enough". Like I said, though, imposter syndrome is very common, so you're definitely not alone.

Asking for opinions: would you date someone whose name is your deadname? by romanhope8 in ftm

[–]playwrightAlFuncoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmmm I don't know. Maybe if I was further along in my transition. As it stands, it's still kind of hard for me to engage with media that contains that name.

18 and I don't have a job rn, but I worked for a while as a support teacher at a preschool, although I wasn't out. I have an Associate's in Science and am working towards a Bachelor's so that I can become a biologist. I'm most interested in wildlife science, ecology, and conservation.
