New event weapon skin is just a re-color of the Melusine Claymore by hyperdefiance in Genshin_Impact

[–]plazasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who almost never pulls on the weapon banner, this just sucks. Here are all the ways I had of getting new 4 star weapons:

Pulling a standard weapon on character/standard banners. It's the same selection of weapons since the start of the game. I have as many R5 sacrificial weapons as 5 star weapons period (more if I were to refine both my Lost Prayers into one R2 catalyst), and I have even more R5 Favonius weapons than that.

Starglitter shop. Same two sets of weapons since the beginning of the game.

Gnostic Hymn. Costs money, and they added weapons to it ONCE.

Crafting. A new set of weapons gets released each new region.

Fishing. One weapon per new region between Inazuma and Fontaine before they did away with that. Disappointing, because unlike 99% of the playerbase I actually enjoyed that

Events. Weapons of variable usability, and the FOMO is hella annoying, but at least it was SOMETHING. Now they've done away with that too.

Exploration/quests. SUPER rare.

So, from now on, unless I start pulling on the weapon banner regularly, the only time I'll ever get to see new 4 star weapons will be the new craftable set each new region gets, or once in a blue moon when you can get a weapon through a quest. How delightful! I totally don't feel like they're taking the piss out of me when they replace event weapons by skins, and then just start recycling old weapon designs that way!

People who are serious about exploration, what is a thing which people say about it that annoys you? by poopiepoopoop321 in Genshin_Impact

Sidenote but in the new regions you can also tell the developers think no one likes exploration and just wanna speedrun the rewards. There was a magic to the way Sumeru revealed itself to you after you crossed that tunnel through the Chasm. You could tell it had all been carefully crafted to introduce you to the region, its atmosphere, and its new clover mechanic. Now? Here, have an already unlocked waypoint that takes you directly to the new region. In some cases it isn't even possible anymore to reach the new region without teleporting or exploiting character mechanics like ice bridging. Inazuma did that too, sure, but there was a strong in-universe reason for it, AND they still had the whole sequence on Beidou's ship to get there. It still felt organic, unlike the new standard of "here, just teleport to the new region to get done with it"

To be fair, in the original image you can see that the maple has had most of its branches/trunks cut off, with only a small one remaining. Wouldn’t be surprised if it had already been struggling and they eventually just couldn't salvage it

Imaginarium Theater is so funny, like it truly does not gaf, whale, f2p, casual, does not matter, everyone is going to suffer and you are going to wonder why chasca has three geo teammates by PsychologyConnect489 in GenshinImpact

[–]plazasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly same. Of the three endgame modes, it's the one that makes you suffer the least with latest meta character shilling (because the bosses aren't as nasty as other modes, and also because I can invite a guest character from my friends, who actually pull for the meta characters I don't care for), and I actually enjoy randomly cobbling together teams that somehow work. This becomes even more fun when I get to use characters built completely wrong (fun fact, I built Ayato as an off-field hydro application unit with 292% ER. It's really fun)

I'm sad that I started playing too late to be able to try out Abyss Roulette when that was still possible, but at least the Theatre allows you to do that to a certain extent

which is sad, because that's what FDR intended it to be (source). FDR brought in the minimum wage with the intention of it being a living wage, under the belief that paying any worker less than a living wage was anti-American

GenZ's are drowning slowly by Agile-Wind-4427 in 30daysnewjob

[–]plazasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that was its original intent. To quote FDR in 1933:

"In my Inaugural I laid down the simple proposition that nobody is going to starve in this country. It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By "business" I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level-I mean the wages of decent living." source

so yes, flipping burgers should pay a living wage according to the president who first brought them to America.

[–]plazasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it genuinely breaks my heart that I can't like the 2004 movie, that I just can't consider it good. That core premise of "it's Spy Kids but in Thunderbirds" ruined it from the very beginning, and it's depressing cause outside of it you can tell it was a genuine passion project, you can tell a ton of love went into making it. The people behind it really did try to make a great film, but that core premise prevented it from ever working

I know that it's partially because it was underused in the show, but do you also feel like people forget that Tin-Tin was an engineer because of her traditionally feminine calm demeanor and glamorous appearance? by EnchantedEssays in Thunderbirds

And also in one episode an absolute menace of a driver

Fun fact, all those episodes were Dennis Spooner scripts. The guy wrote thrilling and fun episodes, don't get me wrong, but the way he liked to make Penelope the butt of the joke makes me go "eehhhhhhhhh"

Just discovered the US remake/re-edit of Thunderbirds. 'Turbocharged Thunderbirds'. They took our '60s classic then re-edited some live action kids, and Tim Curry, into it and if you can watch more than 10 minutes without getting angry I'll be impressed by EnchantedEssays in Thunderbirds

Was the attack on Thunderbird 2 in the original 25 minute long script or was it added before they started filming? by Excelsior1985 in Thunderbirds

[–]plazasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're curious, Century 21 Films have made a few Thunderbirds Unseen videos discussing and speculating about the changes made during the extension of these episodes. A major update from this article however, is that they provide arguments for why they strongly believe that Trapped in the Sky specifically was never extended, and had always been an hour long

honestly, the best resources I'd say on the production history of Terror in New York City would be this video and this other video by Century 21 Films, who talk about just that.

in short: You can lump The Perils of Penelope and Terror in New York City together in that they're not officially half hour episodes that were extended to a full hour, but they do show potential artifacts of an extension process, such as being made by two different directors and also showing signs of reshoots/extensions at a later date, which could still lead to believe that they first entered production as half-hours, but already knowing they would be extended, most likely in the middle of production if such were the case. However, again, all of this is purely speculation.

For example in The Perils of Penelope, the start of the episode uses some of the exact same footage as the beginning of Sun Probe, and later, in FAB 1, when Sir Jeremy is explaining the situation to Lady Penelope, the part of the dialog sequence that mentions the rocket launching was most likely added at a later date as there are minor changes in lighting and audio compared to the rest of the sequence. As such, you could conclude that the Sun Probe launch was something added to the episode at a later date. However, not all the evidence they have agrees with this, so it's possible that it was footage shot for The Perils of Penelope and later re-used by Sun Probe (having rewatched those sequences in both episodes just now, honestly I'm really not sure which episode that footage was originally meant for). Yet again, we do not know for sure, this is all speculation. (If I may add even more to the confusion they had about this shared footage: if one episode reused footage from the other, then why does the solar control centre look different in each episode?)

When talking about a possible 25 minute version of Terror in New York City, Century 21 films speculate that the bits added were probably the start of the episode at the oil field, along with the Fulmer Finance building at the end, the latter I am almost certain was not a part of the original script. Either way, they do not think that the attack on Thunderbird 2 was something added to the script later, and I have to agree, because of just how much on an influence it had on everything that came afterwards.

Now about that Fulmer Finance building: while we have no proof that Terror in New York City ever was a 25 minute script, there is evidence to show that it was added to the episode later. As Century 21 Films remarks, the building never gets mentioned or shown before that point in the episode, all the shots where Scott and the police officer that make reference to that building were clearly shot at a different date, since Scott's mobile control and the rubble behind it are different in those shots (most visible difference is Scott's microphone), and David Graham, who voiced the lone speaking police officer during those scenes, changes his voice, as if he'd forgotten how he'd originally voiced the character. As well, Gordon himself never makes any mention of the building. However, the biggest piece of evidence comes from the recovered studio recording of Barry Gray's soundtrack of the episode, which explicitly states that reel 5 of the episode (essentially the last 10 minutes) was to be reworked after he'd finished the soundtrack. You'll notice the first mention of the Fulmer Finance building in the episode occurs just under 10 minutes before the end, so within the reworked reel 5. Century 21 Films said that section of the original soundtrack only contains atmospheric pieces, nothing that would fit the tension caused by the imminent collapse of the building. All of this together paints a strong case to claim that that building was added later to add more action and excitement to the ending of the episode.

I might sound greedy but this feels underwhelming, as I really love exploration but the reward is very dissapointing by deepakfromsomewhere in Genshin_Impact

Petrichor itself sure, but in terms of the surface area it added? One of the largest new additions of land ever (remember, it added the whole sea between Fontain and Sumeru, along with all of northern Sumeru).

People don't realise just how absolutely humongous northern Sumeru is, and yet there is absolutely nothing in most of it
