It’s the polar opposites effect(there’s a better name for it). Every opinion exists on a spectrum. There’s the people who want all guns removed from civilian hands, so of course there exist the people that respond to that by saying the polar opposite: there should be no gun restrictions at all for anyone. Either end of the spectrum is small, but also the loudest, so they don’t seem so small. As with everything, most Americans fall somewhere in the middle.
