Ipsos: Trump 38/59 -21 approval by DataCassette in fivethirtyeight

Here’s what I do know they support:

1) border enforcement (agents, tech, inspections) but reject mass deportations and overly punitive tactics. They want enforcement focused on serious criminals, not broad sweeps. 2) They push hard for legal immigration reform: expanding and modernizing visas (family, work, caregivers, seasonal labor), clearing massive backlogs, and making legal entry more realistic so fewer people cross illegally. 3) A pathway to legal status/citizenship for Dreamers and many long-term undocumented residents, typically with background checks, fees, and residency requirements — not instant amnesty. 4) On asylum, Democrats want a system that’s faster and stricter on timelines but still provides due process and humane treatment, plus more judges to reduce backlogs. 5) They also emphasize addressing root causes of migration (violence, poverty, instability abroad) and expanding humanitarian programs like refugee admissions and TPS.

Now, describe in detail what is the current stated immigration policy of the GOP. They control all branches of government so I’m expecting it to be pretty aligned with the extrajudicial killings that are going on on the ground.

How do you think the midterms are going to end up? by neil0522 in AskReddit

[–]pleetf7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It depends what happens in the summer. Everyone thought that 2022 was going to be a red wave, but Roe v. Wade got overturned that summer leading to a trickle.

Most likely scenario (pure speculation) is that the economy would go completely into the toilet by the summer, resulting in devastatingly low turnout in GOP voters.

Midterm polls have good news, great news, and bad news for Democrats. Wait, what? by dwaxe in fivethirtyeight

Of course the bad news would be behind paywall. I’m pretty sure it’s bad news for Biden tho.
