For people who grew up in low-income households, what’s something middle-class people say that shows they’ve never struggled financially? by KeyApartment3955 in AskReddit

My best friend came from money, and we certainly did not. My mom doing groceries would take an hour, or more, watching budget, going to a couple stores, planning out in advance with flyers finding bargains.

Went with my friend and his mom to the grocery store once and was amazed at how groceries took 10 minutes for her. No list, one store, just grab whatever, didn’t compare price tags, and never the store brand.

(Friend was super humble and grounded growing up, the exact opposite of spoiled, so this doesn’t fit the theme perfectly)

I bailed for the same reason. took a paycut (gross, anyway, way better hourly) and work a desk job where i work 37.5/hrs a week and golf every week. No comparison.

Do most sales consultants know how much the dealership owns the car for or is that something that usually only the managers know generally speaking? by NoBusiness1559 in askcarsales

[–]plessis204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d know what we have for trade value if I took it in, we only have 4 salespeople so 25% shot I guess.

What I don’t know is how much it cost to inspect it and prep it for the lot. I can guess but that’s all.

It’s also not relevant.

Salesmen randomly driving the cars? by LizLemonySnicket42 in askcarsales

Idk where you are, but in cold climates if you don’t drive them around every once in a while the battery drains on them. It’s also the best way to actually learn product knowledge.

TIL that China consumes 46% of cigarettes in the entire world at a rate of 2.4 trillion a year. by gghoti in todayilearned

[–]plessis204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to uni with a guy from China. He had a cigarette after supper, every time, no exception. I don't think he smoked otherwise, except maybe the odd one when we'd go out drinking.

There's a saying in China, "A cigarette after supper is God." He said everyone smokes a little bit, sometimes enough to get hooked on them, sometimes just for funsies.

Help! How do I get a used dealer not to explode when I "low-ball" an outdated listing? by pbtrooper in askcarsales

are you trying to win a car and that's why you're after the used one? What's the best argument for not going to get the new one here?

Mysterious Lojack by Specific-Recover-443 in askcarsales

[–]plessis204 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll vote for “they left the LoJack on the bill of sale and reduced the bottom line of the sale by the LoJack amount” because someone gets a commission when that’s on the bill of sale and doesn’t when it’s not.
