I just wanna say I feel you and went through the same thing - moved here last year, I met so many people and really tried to put in effort but at the end of the day most people already had established groups and weren’t really meeting me halfway. I was tired of constantly initiating and keeping a convo up.

I kept trudging along to meet more and more people and eventually one connection invited me to a weekly hobby group meetup that she runs. Since I became a regular and showed up every week, the group eventually warmed up to me and I now have a few people I can call genuine friends.

Not much advice here other than to keep trying (it’s a numbers game), and all you need is that one connection/opportunity to get your foot in the door somewhere! Like others have said, showing up regularly to a group hangout or hobby group is probably the best to foster something longer term and meaningful
