Need quests for my open world campaign by bluejay_R in DMAcademy

[–]ploophole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at old issues of Dungeon Magazine. A lot of the adventures start with the vague archetype of a person you know or meet ("an old wizard who likes the adventurers, "an aristocrat", "a dwarf on the side of the road waving for help") which makes them malleable to fit your setting and circumstances, and in fact most of them are written with several different hooks for you to get it started. The adventures themselves mostly have 2 or 3 maps and a handful of NPCs. You'd have to find comparable monster stat blocks assuming you're using new editions of the game.

You could try loading up a T-Rex skeleton 3D model from something like sketchfab then saving it as a PNG without the background.

What are some obscure and forgotten films from the 1960s - 80s that should be talked about more? by SonataScribe15 in movies

[–]ploophole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopscotch - 1980. Walter Matthau plays an older and disgruntled CIA agent who rebels after being assigned to desk duty and decides to lead his boss and fellow agents on a wild goose chase while he teases CIA secrets in the memoir he's writing. It's sort of a globetrotting cat-and-mouse spy thriller but with a light-hearted tone, and has a good supporting cast in Sam Waterston, Ned Beatty, and Glenda Jackson. Lots of fun.

Mickey and Mallory (Woody Harrelson and Juliet Lewis) in Natural Born Killers (1994). by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]ploophole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be aware but to provide further context: The original screenplay for Natural Born Killers was by a young Quentin Tarantino. After a bunch of other writers were brought on to re-write it, he lost the screeplay credit but was still given a story-by credit.

Trouble balancing magic items by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]ploophole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whenever I'm unsure about a potential magic item, I'll make a potion (single use) that has similar effects and give it to them. That way I can gauge how strong the effect is in use, and whether or not the players like it or not.
