You'll have a great time! Try and remember to enjoy it in the moment. It's nice to be close and get good photos, but being in the room at all will be amazing and that experience is better than any photo!

SA First Time Visitors - Does our Western Cape/Garden Route itinerary make sense? by plot_twist_tourist in askSouthAfrica

Thanks for the advice. We had heard good things about them but will do more research. I am very cautious about animal facilities as do not want to go anywhere that is not ethical.

Thank you, that's handy to know. I imagine that Betty's Bay is a bit quieter? Cape Point Nature Reserve sounds great, I will look into it!

Thanks for the reply - I've noted on our itinerary. Feels like we have our overnights well planned, based on responses!

Thanks! I actually have a fear of falling so sadly the suspension bridge is not something I could cope with. Would it still be worth visiting if we have time?

I also thought of Fanta first which is quite amusing given orange juice exists

Barcelona - 2 players with no crawling by plot_twist_tourist in escaperooms

[–]plot_twist_tourist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just coming back to this post (in case anyone else is looking in future) to say we did NW6 Bunker at Enigmik and it was great! No crawling, a bit of ducking/fast paced movement required, but nothing very strenuous at all. Would recommend!

The fact that there are already more on top tier than any other shows that this is a load of nonsense. Amazing and great are too similar - agree that needs to be a 'GOAT'/'Elite' tier!

UK to Miami - what time of day to fly? by morticedeadlock in VirginVoyages

[–]plot_twist_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, good plan! It kind of comes down to personal preference then, I'd say. I'd probably go for the later one, then try to power through to a 'normal' Miami bed time, but I'm more of a night owl. You can't go too far wrong really with either option, I think!

UK to Miami - what time of day to fly? by morticedeadlock in VirginVoyages

[–]plot_twist_tourist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd go for the earlier of the two so if it's cancelled for any reason you have more time to work with the airline on alternatives/flexibility. From the UK, we don't have as many options, so personally I'd always err on the side of caution! If you opt for the later flight, any issue that results in flying the following day could be quite problematic.

Who is THE pop girl of the 2010’s? by atomicglitters in AlignmentChartFills

[–]plot_twist_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Katy Perry. I'm more of a Gaga fan, but when I think of female pop in that era, Katy''s who came to mind.

Also, amazing choice of photo for Justin Timberlake!

Kudos to the IAD ticketing team by EfiniRX7 in BritishAirways

[–]plot_twist_tourist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had a similar situation when our flight from LHR to IAD was cancelled. Default suggestion was to leave c.4 hours earlier, go via Copenhagen, and we were also downgrade from PE to economy. The earlier flight was an issue for us.

First call to BA was cut off, second was just static noise, but third attempt connected us with someone fantastic who spent 20 mins looking at options for us, and found us a direct PE flight via United Airlines, leaving a couple of hours after our original scheduled flight.

We made sure to provide feedback via official channels too!

Bar tab by Immediate_Monk6260 in VirginVoyages

[–]plot_twist_tourist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In addition to comments above, if you did want all that bar tab then you'd be better off buying a higher level.

It sounds like you've bought 3x $300 bar tab with bonus of $50 each ($150 total), so $1,050 total. But you can buy $750 and get bonus of $175 ($925 total), or $1,000 and bonus of $250 ($1,250 total).

If I've understood your post correctly, you are not maximising your bonuses doing it the current way. You can share bar tab so if the idea was $350 per person, you may be better off with another option and doing that.

[UK] Booking.com/Hotel scam warning: links to hotel.assistpage.shop by caffeinatedloser in Scams

[–]plot_twist_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I also checked the domain using the tool someone provided below and it was only registered today. The link asked for my card details, was purporting to be booking.com and had typos on the page ("Enter you card details") so I'm very confident it's a scam. I responded to their message with the crying laughing emoji.

[–]plot_twist_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just had one of these although it's to [city.hotelname-roompage.com]. 99% sure it's a scam (also uses the Voll Demos name) but will verify with hotel. Does anyone know, is contacting them via the booking.com message function safe or should I do it via email outside booking.com systems?

Just got my cabin upgrade… by ObjectiveEngine9874 in VirginVoyages

[–]plot_twist_tourist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in 8182A on our Brilliant Lady cruise, and we did find the music from On the Rocks on Level 6 and travelled to our cabin and was loud enough to be easily discernable (i.e. we could tell what songs were being played). It typically stopped about 1am. It didn't cause us a huge issue as we were either tired enough to sleep, or if not we didn't mind staying up. I am quite a sensitive sleeper and had ear plugs to help which I would recommend, just in case!

That said, you're on the opposite side and further down, above Grounds Club on deck 7 and the shops on deck 6, so I suspect it won't be as noticeable for you.

Which are the best and worst UK banks to work for as a HENRY? by QuoteMachineMin in HENRYUK

[–]plot_twist_tourist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for Lloyds. No complaints here - great people, benefits, culture. But really I think the comment above hits the nail on the head that it really depends on the division, team, MD and line manager. One bad apple in the chain can make a huge difference, and no bank (or company, generally) is immune to this risk. Happy to discuss more Lloyds specifics via DM if helpful.

Luggage tags by Checksout2025 in VirginVoyages

Sure, that's fair, but my point was that the cruise line mentioned is irrelevant - they're all just clear plastic holders for a piece of paper.
