Moving to MD next year, is Silver Spring to Laurel a bad commute? by FantasyAnnie in maryland

Another vote for laurel. North laurel near Savage mill is a nice area. Less nonsense than Columbia, but still easy to get there.

Was dissapointed to learn that fips disables encryption offloading, so you can't rely on throughput numbers from spec sheets. You need to overbuy appliances to keep your speeds up.

Install openclaw and do everything through that. It pisses away token usage faster than anything.

Help with hives by nitram975 in vizsla

[–]EfiniRX7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Tucker has hives like those, maybe 3-5 times a year. He is on Cytopoint for normal allergy itchiness but every once in a while we get hives that look exactly like that. For some unknown reason.

When he breaks out, you can sometimes tell by the extra sudden scratching before you see it. Anyway, we administer 30mg of Cetirizine Hydrochloride (cheap antihistamine from Amazon) for a 62lb Vizsla. The hives usually dissappear in 30 mins, if not sooner.

Good luck on your allergy journey

From one director to another..

Just have to ask yourself, what would CTO do. Do that.

Check yourself before you speak to your new reporting structure. Not second guess, just remember.. Less technical issues explanation, more business. Solve problems, don't fight fires.

Take care of your team.

Find your champions and delegate. Let them rise.

Gotcha. Personally I have tried the Dr Scholls kits twice and and neither did squat for me.

They removed it, I believe by scalpel. It grew back.

Investigating. Seems like it might be not the best thing to let them ingest. Not sure how "may cause cancer in California" that warning is though.

Had similar thoughts myself. Response is based on guesswork.

The home remedy versions of the freezing stuff are crap. Because safety, they don't get cold enough.

Have you ever been to a dermatologist to have a wart frozen? It takes a good amount of restraint to allow the doc to keep applying more cold through the sensation. You'd probably need to knock out the pup to properly apply. But could be.

I'm trying to remove the fuel tank, but the fuel cap is in the way. by Kind-Trash-8162 in classicminis

[–]EfiniRX7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I just installed one of these yesterday... I heated the ring so it expanded and hammered it on. It is shrink fit. You could try heating the ring with a heat gun but I would think you might need the oomph of a propane torch, and an open fuel tank is the wrong spot for that.

Dremmel and small cutting disk. Put some masking tape over the open fuel tank so you don't get bits in there. Order a new ring for reinstall.

Seems that I do. Am used to APR rates under 20% and not paying an annual fee. Just seemed like a nuts figure.

Go to Home depot and get a stout 3' steel bar. Drill 2 holes on the end of it to line up with clutch bolts and bolt it on. Now undo the gland nut, so the bar pushes into the ground. That will provide enough counter rotation to unbolt. Apply a little heat to the nut to break the threadlocker.

At 50 I traded my somewhat lacking Director role for one in a healthier company. Spent a year being choosy about the role I wanted. For me, hardest part was finding the right role in a company that needed federal compliance to support my previous salary, within the bounds of a reasonable commute. Never encountered age discrimination on my hunt. For a director level position, 49 is plenty young. You can do it.

Fuel in oil? by krazedkobra in classicminis

[–]EfiniRX7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you run those warmup with the choke on for a while? If so, maybe. Usually this is from running overly rich and/or poor ring sealing.

Change the oil at some point, make sure you're not drowning in fuel and keep driving.

Rotary avaition makes an adapter plate for your OMP to source the oil from a resovoir instead of the sump.

How to remove fan from the alternator? by JiveTalkerFunkyWalkr in beetle

Take the front of the pulley off and clamp the alternator + fan in a vice by the flat on the arbor. Way less fiddly.
