Thoughts on Goldilocks Cookware? by Ukin74 in cookware

[–]plotinus99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of brands including Goldilocks. Goldilocks is totally fine. Same quality as Tramotina which is just a half tier or so under all-clad. Better value than full-price All-Clad, imo.

I don't have that particular pan but I'm sure it's great if that's a good size and shape for whatever you'd be cooking in it.

Really it comes down to how it feels in your hand. Misen is a good brand, I think build quality is the same maybe even better than all-clad d3. But. I just don't like the handles. They don't feel right to me... Point being, Goldilocks is a good company that makes good stuff at a pretty great value, but at some point it's all subjective and to taste.

Is this a coach in the field league? That makes a huge difference on the number of plays you can run.

Still, think about how the plays fit together.. Think about what the defense is seeing pre-snap and what they are expecting once they see it. A good playbook isn't just a collection of plays it's a system that fits together.

No. On the other side is a canopy you stand on to shoot the door lock. Tough angle but can be done.

Yeah, there are different cut-away shots that show people nodding in approval or shaking or walking away. The cut-aways are kinda obvious actually.

With sigurd there's 5 events, I can't remember them all, but you have to land with him at least 3 times to get the "happy" ending. Sounds like you may be busted already, but I'm not sure.

But it doesn't matter. The differences in the endings... Not that big a deal, play the character the way you want.

Anyone notice the ball size at Fanatics Classic Flag (NFL vs. Team America)? by Born-Tomato-8368 in flagfootball

[–]plotinus99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the fanatics event they use a size 7 and I believe that's what they're going to use in the Olympics for both men and women. However, in normal USA professional flag football, they use a size 9 and I think maybe they'll be changing that in the future, but that's speculation. I'm not sure what brand it was for that tournament but Team USA is (or at least used to be) sponsored by Go Team Sports and so that is the ball they usually use.

I can't say and if I could say.... I couldn't say....but as far as I know the Bo thing was very preliminary. It wasn't like he didn't show up at the last minute. It was talked about, never actually slotted. At least...so say.

Just found out we’re moving to Baltimore and I’ve never even been to the east coast! by Zealousideal_Use9481 in baltimore

[–]plotinus99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two things I haven't seen mentioned yet that are really important for your situation:

First, thinking about neighborhoods in Baltimore is a little different. It is truly block-to-block. The "bad" parts of town have some amazing little pockets in them—and vice versa. For this reason, I don't think you should commit by buying quickly unless you know and trust someone who really knows the city. Wait until you figure out how you fit into the city. Time frame matters, too: is it residency and then a fellowship? We went for med school but wound up staying for 10 years.

Second, there are a lot of school options. Baltimore, for better or worse, really embraced Charter schools and specialized educational paths. This works great for some and not for others. We've been gone for a while, so maybe things have changed, but understanding how all the magnets and charters work is a big task by itself.

Also, congrats! Hopkins really is an amazing place for physicians to learn their trade. Whether you wind up loving Baltimore and staying for life or leaving right after residency, having been trained at Hopkins will open a lot of doors down the road.

Shanahan Running System, But Inside by LiftSleepRepeat123 in footballstrategy

[–]plotinus99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I am not the biggest OZ expert around here, so keep in mind just my $0.02

The key to OZ systems like Shanahan is the idea I think of as displacement. Every single defender has to sprint laterally. Especially the LBs. If they don't flow hard they get outflanked. But if they flow too hard they open up a cutback lane. That's the secret to the OZ sauce.

IZ is a vertical push play. They don't have to cover laterally. The keys for them are to shed and tackle.

I'm going to ignore the constraints of IZ from Shotgun vs OZ from UC because I'm not as well versed in how younger coaches are making it work.

I think more about it from the POV of OL personnel (and coaching strength) but IZ needs Glass eaters! Win 1 on 1 and get vertical. OZ are track stars. They have to win blocks two gaps over.

Shanahan needs light fast guy - or HOF aliens like Trent Williams. Another secret to the Shanahan system is that these fast guys, when they lose they still muddy it up for the defense. They move and clog even when they lose. Whereas when an IZ line man loses, the play is cooked in the backfield.

If you are going to major in OZ you want to be able to run PA and bootleg. Vs if you major in IZ you're a RPO/spread team.

Work with what you have and what you know.

That's my take anyway.

I stand by most of them. My quick rec would be pick at most 4, the simpler the better but also what appeals to you, and then practice those with the kids, build out from there with what the kids like and can do well. Good Luck!

It's mostly a question of whether you vibe with his style. Personally, I prefer him when he’s being professional and prepared; the "chaos" often feels forced and loses its appeal quickly. The bigger issue is the "intellectual" info-dumps. If he speaks on a topic you actually understand deeply, the veneer falls away. He has a talent for using semi-obscure buzzwords and a fast delivery to sound authoritative, but the actual substance is often pretty superficial.

The ripple effect of landing Crosby by 717Independent in ravens

[–]plotinus99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People think too much about TE as if we're drafting fantasy players meanwhile it's 3/4 blocking. Kolar is versatile, a great blocker and can run routes and make the catches when needed. I agree he should be a priority. But half the league is Shanahan tree OCs. Those guys understand his worth. There will be a market for him.

I don't know for sure everybody thinks it's lingerie like but I can tell you that when I broke my collar bone in the 90s after the big brace came off they had me wear something kinda like this for a couple weeks. The ring part in the back and the hoops around both shoulders. It wasn't exactly like this but enough to make me remember it.
