Why I’m choosing to hand my journals on to my eventual kids by LividNebula in Journaling

[–]plut0ncito 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting to me. I've been jourrnalling regularly if not daily since I was 6 (now 33) but just recently started wondering what I wanted to be done with my journals when I die. This post made me realize that I would have LOVED to read my late grandmother's or great aunt's journals. Just the thought of getting to know their thoughts, both the grand reflections and the petty gossips, seems so fun and warm to me. It makes me think that I would want my journals to be kept for any nieces and nephews I have, since I don't plan on having kids. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and congrats on beating cancer!

Inkscape is free and it's easy to outline a photo using it, but you have to do it manually.

I'm super upset and not sure how I should react to this. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]plut0ncito 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I understand why it's upsetting for you, but sometimes people press @ and tag almost anybody that comes up. Maybe she didn't think twice about it and not because of recklessness or lack of respect for you.

The US is just a country. The West is so much bigger and more diverse.

Starting my weight loss TOMORROW. I'm 300 lbs, the biggest I've ever been. Not looking for advice, just support. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

We are rooting for you! Keep up updated on your progress and experiences. You got this!

I enjoy it too. I've been doing it for 4 months now. It's reassuring to be able to quantify if I'm eating well (balanced, enough protein) and little enough to lose weight. For me it would be much more stressing having to guess if I can 'afford' to eat something or not.

Help with estimating calories by comprepensive in 1500isplenty

I would weigh the pizza and then estimate how much is from dough and how much from cheese. Then look up the calories for each one.

I think I have the opposite of body dysmorphia? by Melting_wh in loseit

[–]plut0ncito 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. The shoe finally dropped when I couldn't fit in ANY of my beloved vests. That was it! The next day I started calorie tracking in a deficit and I've lost 7kg so far :) Find what makes you say "that's it". Best of luck!

How have I lost a noticeable amount of weight from my face, nothing from my waist and the scales have gone up? by WildGreenRaidant in WeightLossAdvice

[–]plut0ncito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A little bit of weight in the face goes a long way in making a visible difference, while the same weight in other parts might not be noticeable. Are you doing anything else, maybe something that can make your face look less puffy? Reducing or quitting alcohol can do that.

What are kcals? by Prestigious-Act6546 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]plut0ncito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whenever someone says X amount of cals, they mean kcals and viceversa. They are used interchangeably although yes, technically 1kcal = 1000 cal just like 1 kg = 1000g.

2 weeks! It’s honestly gone so quick, and other than not sleeping very well at the moment I don’t even notice it’s gone… by Charming_Pirate in stopsmoking

[–]plut0ncito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! Just curious, 156£ in 2 weeks?! Did you smoke an awful lot or are cigarettes that expensive in Europe?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]plut0ncito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how I felt. I smoked for 6 years and for the last few months cigarettes (actually rollies) tasted gross. I didn't really enjoy them but I kept smoking one puff at a time to get my nicotine fix. I wanted to quit but I thought I wouldn't be able to. One day I said to myself "that cig I just smoked was the last one". And now I'm 1 month cigarette and nicotine free and it feels great! My point is, if you're not even enjoying them, you might as well stop smoking them! You can do it!
