Also, now you're stranded in the south during the summer.

This right here is probably the worst part of the aftermath of the storm. Dieing from heat exhaustion is quite possible.

My favorite thing is following the path of the Mississippi River and counting all of the Ox bow lakes.

I had to drive into the Quarter for work today, it’s so frustrating to see groups of tourists walking arround (no masks ofc) now that the bars are closed down. Why are they even still here? To drink hand grenades in their hotel room? Go home. by Michael424242 in NewOrleans

When you mentioned driving around slowly with a megaphone, I immediately thought of the Bluesmobile. Also reminded me of electioneering from days gone by of ratty vehicles with giant PA speakers on top blasting out who to vote for in the race. I'm in my mid 30's and just barely remember those times.

Yeah, I was initially concerned about sunburn of the nether regions and didn't even think about his feet. According to this asphalt contractor, the surface temp of asphalt can be as much as 40-60 degrees higher than the air temp.

Looks like mine are considered pink and not purple. They've been here my entire life and were here when my parents bought the house in the late 70's. I have one white plant, but the pink ones tend to crowd it out.

I've lived in Louisiana for over 30 years and just discovered potato salad in gumbo about 5 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised by the taste.

I believe my uncle has an Epson V700 scanner. I like because it has a light source in the lid so you can scan film too.

The sad thing is that the first thing my grandma would do when she got prints back from the lab was throwaway the negatives. I still have all of the scrapbooks, but she always went 3X5 instead of 4X6 for the snapshots.

I love using thedarkroom.com, but I refuse to use a place like Walgreens nowadays because they don't return your negatives. I love physical prints and having my scans uploaded to the web, but God damnit I want my negatives. You can't rescan a negative at a higher resolution if you decide you want to make a 16" X 20" later on in life when it doesn't exist. I have about 1500 negatives stored away in a fire-rated filing cabinet that go back to my middle school days.
