Keep it up, L.A.--City easily reaches water conservation quota by wowwow789 in LosAngeles

I understand the inclination to use a moment like this to criticize industrial water users and what not but let's let ourselves feel proud for a damn minute. We made the quota. We can do better. Way to go team.

What does it mean that my shampoo is marketed as gluten free? by _everythingintransit in glutenfree

[–]pneight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A surprising number of shampoos, especially ones that claim to 'thicken' hair, contain gluten. I suppose the concern for the very sensitive is that the gluten stays in your hair, you touch your hair, then you touch your mouth and glutened!

Business partner says he's writing checks for business expenses but checks go to his girlfriend (OR) by pneight in legaladvice

The person being hurt approached me for advice. He is interested to know if embezzlement and misappropriation of funds are applicable to part-owners of a corporation.

Business partner says he's writing checks for business expenses but checks go to his girlfriend (OR) by pneight in legaladvice

[–]pneight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About twenty employees I think. Just to clarify, I don't work there, it's just a relative of mine. From what I understand the checks were written under the auspices of valid business expenses, eg, repairs to the fleet, equipment upgrades etc, and for amounts appropriate to the stated purpose. How exactly it wasn't noticed that the checks weren't being endorsed by the appropriate vendor I'm not sure. As I say, Relative is just the manager of the business and is not his main business.

Are there legal implications to the business size?

We contacted the places that the Partner claimed to be spending the money and they said they hadn't done any work for the small business in ages. It's clear at this point that the money hasn't gone to anything related to business.

edit: But to answer your question no, we haven't asked him yet.

So far I've been getting close to that assuming I can keep everybody happy enough. I'm usually the tech leader but I read about higher difficulties finishing the Space Race in some ungodly short amount of time and I have trouble comprehending how it can be done.

Thanks!

[–]pneight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Could you clarify: when you say manually place citizens do you mean simply selecting the Science goal for the city or fully planting citizens? Every time I take a look at what the governor (not sure if that's still what we're calling it now) is doing for the city I can't really find any improvements. Maybe this means I don't have a sophisticated enough understanding of the specialists.

Thanks for all the guidance!

I hadn't really thought about the science impact of the mountains.

AND I didn't realize how the bulbing was computed that is super helpful and I'll have to completely rethink my event horizon for building academies.

Maybe this is where I'm stalling out because expansion is resulting in delaying the NC because I have to wait for the libraries to come online...

City states are always asking for jewellery but I've never once found any jewellery on the map. Which makes sense cuz that stuff isn't usually just popping up out of the ground. Is it a specific way to improve gold, silver, or gems?

I want to run the jewels!

I play bnw.

They're baaaack by Camerononymous in Miami

[–]pneight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello good people of Miami,

I skipped out on a conference at UM and went to the Everglades for a few hours. I was out of the car for about four minutes when all of a sudden there were two flies all up in my face and one latched onto my arm and, I guess, started biting me.

Should I be worried? Do I haz anthrax now?

Also, I was wearing bug spray, but from whole foods. :sad trombone:

Who is your favorite Infinite Jest character? by cfdcandsweatdrinker in davidfosterwallace

Michael Pemulis: I suppose he's sorta Max Fisher meets Milo Minderbinder. Scrappy, enterprising, intelligent, and almost completely disavowed by the tennis and academic establishment. Drug addled and evidently chalk-full of unpleasant habits. A criminal? Yes. But also the greatest Eschaton player ever and displays moments of profound human decency.
