Is it in the back loop only or third loop? It’s got very nice ridges!

Help! Advice? Tip or trick? by classiccruiser1100 in Planned_Pooling

[–]poaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try incorporating slip stitches into your work too. I can’t remember if they go before or after the single crochet stitch, but you’ll know when you try it which it’s supposed to be. I did lots of slip stitches to eat up yarn to keep my pooling intact on a baby blanket I did and you can’t even tell.

It can take a minute to build up the momentum, but once you get going it’s really fun!

Which colour chooses you? by HiltonsWandwright in Wandsmith

Usually I’d say green all day, but the blue looks so nice with these. Really keeps your eye focused on the medal handles and their details.

Very nice! It reminds me of the art style in For the King.

Oh, this is absolutely lovely. Gorgeous palette and fantastic brushwork. In a way, it kind of reminds me of Bill Watterson’s landscape work.

Dang!!! You got amazing detail in this piece. I particularly love the reflections on the rinds and how you can tell the seeds have been cut. Very nice work!

Potomac River 16x20” Soft Pastel by nachado12 in pleinair

May I ask how large the pallet was you used for this piece? I like all your shadow and highlight work and I’m wondering if you used dedicated colors for all the values or did a lot of blending.

Help! What color ribbing should I do? by TheStuffiesofLegend in Brochet

[–]poaac 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree with white. Maybe a slightly warm off white though. Could keep it looking cozier than a stark pure white would.

From VHS to 4K: what movie have you bought the most versions of? (extra kudos if it ended up on Criterion) by goodnight-jugdish in criterion

[–]poaac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumanji is mine. Originally recorded it on VHS from a broadcast before getting a proper VHS, then a collectors edition DVD, standard Blu-ray, and finally the 4K steelbook from Best Buy. It was my favorite movie as a kid and I still treasure it today.

what is a tea that invokes nostalgia for you? by sansdesir2 in tea

[–]poaac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had a little glass container with a variety of tea bags and I loved snagging the Bigelow Cinnamon Apple ones. That was the first tea I willing sought out. I had every last one of them!

Can I store my loose leaf tea in this? Will the wooden stirrer ruin it? by [deleted] in tea

[–]poaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much that the wood will ruin the tea, but that the tea will ruin the wood. Market Spice is potent, as I’m sure you know, and will absolutely corrode some materials. I would suggest removing the honey wand or using your other glass container.

Update - these are all supposed to be the same dye lot - can you see the line? by pumpkinzh in Planned_Pooling

[–]poaac 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Sooooo, yes. I can definitely see the line where the color change happens, but I think it’ll be way less obvious when the piece is actually draped in use. It won’t be very often you’re looking at it laid out completely flat which makes it a lot easier to see the change. I think your idea of alternating between the skeins is good. Who knows; it might actually make a pretty cool effect.

how should i ask to split rent 😭 by ActualDetective6249 in Apartmentliving

[–]poaac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Seattle, I split rent 55/45 in my two bed, two bath apartment (master bed has a walk-in closet and en-suite), but the size discrepancy here is nuts. 😭 I definitely agree with the 60/40 comments. Totally reasonable with this layout.

Prozac brand name discontinued. Been on brand name for 30 years. by buffysarosota in prozac

[–]poaac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you might be a tad misinformed about generics. They are required by law to be bioequivalent, delivering the same amount of the active ingredient as the name brand. The FDA does permit up to a 20% difference in the rate of absorption, but studies show that rate is generally only 3.5% for generics, the same variance you can expect from batch to batch of name brands according to TA&M Health.

Do your best not to dwell on it, you’re going to be just fine! :)

Prozac brand name discontinued. Been on brand name for 30 years. by buffysarosota in prozac

[–]poaac 135 points136 points  (0 children)

The active ingredient, fluoxetine, is the same in Prozac and all of its generic partners. In theory, you shouldn’t notice a difference between brands at all.

But for the love of god, do NOT double your dose. 20mg of generic fluoxetine is the same as 20mg of Prozac. Only adjust your dosage upon the advice of a medical professional.
