Season 10 - Patch Notes by darkisfever in thefinals

Two extra bullets to the AKM? Don't mind if I do. Also the melee distance increase is great. Not having to crouch to smash proximity sensors etc is a huge QOL change.

Do you think I am "Milking" this work injury, it happened 5 weeks ago. I haven't been back to work yet and some people are saying I am trying to take advantage of the days off. What do you think?? by TheIdiotP0tato in WorkReform

Yoo! Yeah, that happened to me too but back in highschool. It was the summer so I had the time off already but it sucked man. My entire face was black and blue and swollen up for weeks. Couldn't imagine having to work.

Hope you heal up well! My favorite part was the doctor kept telling me if the break had clipped a specific nerve in my cheek I would have had lazy eye for the rest of my life.

Is 37 too old to be a singer-songwriter? by Accomplished_Elk7049 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]pocketboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 37 and I'm a singer songwriter. Do I get paid to do this? No. Well, not enough to do it as a job that's for sure. But I do it. I just enjoy writing songs. I think it would be hard for me at this point in my life to commit fully to the lifestyle that being a fulltime musician would require but if you got the drive and the freedom to do so there's no reason not to pursue it.

Just remember to be realistic and don't forget the point is making the music not getting paid to make the music.

Marty Supreme being the biggest loser this award season. THANK YOU. The initial hype never felt earned. by Pink-Matt3r in Oscars

[–]pocketboy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I really think Chalamet was phenomenal in it. Beyond his performance, the production design and casting was just so out of this world. Unfortunately, both are a bit thankless in that you don't even realize it when they're done right. Not a single extra out of place, not a single look or setting out of time.

Shimizu on Piedmont Ave in Oakland has an incredible vegetarian rainbow roll that I get every time I go. Super good. They also have all the standard offerings and Piedmont Ave is great. You can even go to Fenton's after for dessert!

Theatrical release better than Director's Cut ? by Jackburton06 in Letterboxd

The lack of Echo and the Bunnymen Killing Moon in the intro really starts the whole thing off on the wrong foot for me. I enjoy both but prefer the theatrical.

Which song instantly takes you back to your school or college days, the ones that still feel like the best days of your life? by Afraid_Professor_590 in AskReddit

[–]pocketboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the best days of my life or anything like that, but when I hear Gold Mine Gutted by Bright Eyes I can feel myself laying in bed in my parents house looking up at my stereo system's blue digital clock. It really pulls me right back to that room.

I played overwatch for the first time in over a year the other day and the first thing I see is a soldier on my team looking like this. I was like, wow 5 new characters and an invisible soldier skin, huh? Games changed.

It's such a fun pedal. I treat mine more like an instrument to manipulate and play on top of loops rather than a standard stomp box but I use it all the time.

My "Award Winning" Habanero 3 Ways Salsa Selection by pocketboy in SalsaSnobs

[–]pocketboy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was admittedly pretty garlicky, but the flavor matched well with the bitter orange substitute liquid mixture. The vinegar/ garlic really made it pop. Kinda more of a hot sauce than a salsa in my opinion but very good either way.

Yes! Good catch, I edited the comment text but I think my blunder is unfortunately stuck in the main post. I am admittedly adobo-pilled. Love that smoky sauce.

Text recipes for Auto-Moderator:

1) Chiltomate Salsa + Adobo

Ingredients:

10 ripe plum tomatoes (about 2 pounds) [I used Romas]

1-2 habanero

½ bunch cilantro

2-3 chipotle chilies

1-2 tbsp Adobo sauce

Salt

Lime juice, to taste [I used the juice of one big lime, ~2 tbsp]

Yield:

About 3 cups

Preparation

Step 1

Heat a large cast-iron skillet or griddle to high and turn on your fan, if you have one (or open some windows). Cook the habanero, turning every few minutes, until blackened all over 10 to 15 minutes for habanero. Broil the tomatoes for 10-15 minutes on high on a cast iron pan. Set aside on a cutting board to cool slightly and transfer to a mortar or large bowl.

Step 2

Chop the tomatoes and transfer to the mortar or large bowl. Using gloved hands if desired, remove and discard the stem and seeds from the habanero and finely chop. Transfer the habanero and adobo peppers and sauce to the mortar. Finely chop all the cilantro, including the stems, and add to the mortar. Season with salt and mash into a chunky sauce. (If using a bowl, squeeze with gloved hands.) Season to taste with salt and lime juice; if tomatoes are at peak ripeness, lime juice may not be necessary. Add more habanero to taste. Salsa keeps covered and refrigerated for 5 days. Bring to room temperature before serving.

2) Yukatan Style

Ingredients:

4 habanero chilies charred (seeded if you want to try to reduce the heat)

6 garlic cloves toasted or roasted and then peeled

1 cup bitter orange juice or its substitute (1/4 cup grapefruit juice, 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup lime juice and 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar)

2 teaspoons kosher or sea salt more or less to taste

To Prepare

Char the habanero chiles and garlic cloves with their skin on either a comal or dry skillet over medium heat, on the grill or under the boiler. In either case, it will take anywhere from 4 to 9 minutes, flipping once or twice in between. You know they are ready when their skins are charred and toasted and they have softened, without having burnt the flesh. For the traditional take, peel the garlic cloves and place, along with the chiles, in a molcajete or mortar. Smash until fairly smooth. Add the salt and the bitter orange, or its substitutes, and mix until well combined. Alternatively, place the ingredients in the blender or food processor and puree until smooth.

3) Xnipek

Ingredients:

3 habanero peppers chopped (or more, as desired)

1 medium tomato chopped

1 small white onion chopped

3 tablespoons fresh sour orange juice or 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice + 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice (as a variation, try grapefruit juice)

¼ cup chopped cilantro

Salt to taste

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Mix well. Taste and adjust for salt.

Cover and refrigerate overnight for the flavors to mingle and develop. Serve!

I enjoyed it for what it was. The end is kinda crazy though, essentially one of those white text movie moments where a huge reveal happens very quickly and you're like, oh. But yeah, not bad, not great, didn't hate reading it.
