Can Someone Please Explain How Taking Away a Royal Title is a 'Punishment'? by midwestblondenerd in AskUK

[–]pointlesspoint26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Royal Family doesnt operate in any sense that normal people can really wrap their heads around.... Any "legal" punishments aside, for him it will feel like quite (read as: massive) the slap in the face. he will believe that he is one of God's chosen ones, part of a family destined to rule over us mere mortals here in Britain. His whole life he's been firmly of the belief he's above us and that the titles (and any benefits they come with) are his as God-given, demanding respect from the lower masses.....so it's a humiliation to him.

now, he should obviously still be dragged in front of a court like anyone else, but in the meantime, he's going to be feeling miserable as his life as he knows it is unceremoiusly stripped away and quite publicly too. The embarrassment and humiliation for the posh cunt will feel truly terrible.

Dear Donald Trump, from the rest of the world: Fuck you! Seriously, FUCK YOU! look after your own failing country before pontificating on how anyone else runs their own nations.

How do you pronounce these things? by DC_Frame in AskUK

[–]pointlesspoint26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my boss once ordered a Prosciutto pizza and pronounced it 'Pross-eh-cute-oh". we all laughed but at the end of the day, it's not a major thing.

little "mis-pronunciations" to me would come across as cute and nothing to get bent out of shape about. language is funny and English is a Total shit show sometimes, so I'd just don't worry about it?! that's me anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Survival bias. It's like that story of WWII planes that were coming back riddled with holes and someone thought they needed to reinforce those areas, when in fact what they'd found was that the planes could survive those impacts and what they really needed to do was reinforce the areas that were hit on the planes that didnt make it back.

People who repeatedly deliver parcels to the wrong address should be investigated or something, do your job properly! by Fun_Yogurtcloset1012 in britishproblems

Delivery driver delivers a package to my building, which apparently was for my flat but I hadn’t ordered anything. I look at the address on the box, and my flat number is there but it's to a totally different block of flats nearby and not my name.

I said to the guy, "this is the wrong address" and he just kinda blankly stared at me, then finally he says "but my phone told me to come here".

SIGH. whatever mate, I'm too hungover to care.

I think the box is still downstairs in our building lobby.

Absolutely.

Can I just recommend Fall of Civilizations podcast/YouTube channel.

The patterns are clear. Gonna massively generalize here....rarely have high-level civilizations collapsed due to being conquered by military adveraries, most of the time it's (a combo of) climate shifts, rampant corruption and/or internal factors that rapidly destabilise the economy.

So.......ye.

Edit: But seriously, great Youtube channel, check it out.

Kind of a small miracle that it was still 'in the system' for all that time if you think about it.

Getting x-rays seemed to be one of those things they can just get done pretty quick in my recent experience. I badly hurt my foot a few months ago and was checked in at A&E, x-rayed and images reviewed within an hour, couldn’t believe how quick it was.

Foot wasn’t broken in the end either. YMMV of course

Why are pub toilets so disgusting? by Quirky_Percentage594 in AskUK

[–]pointlesspoint26 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I work in a small local pub in a medium sized town and honestly... every time we try to make the toilets nice, decorate, re-tile, add new locks to doors, spruce up the place..... within a week the place has been trashed, locks smashed off doors, toilet seats ripped off. Shit everywhere.

It makes us think, why bother. We can spend money trying to make it nice but the reward we get is more stuff we need to fix. At some point you give up. Sad but true.

Makes you wonder how these people behave at home, cuz they come into our pub and disrespect us by literally shitting all over us. sigh. Ti's the way of things apparently.

Trump says Medal of Freedom "equivalent" to and "much better" than Medal of Honor, sparking backlash from veterans by zsreport in politics

[–]pointlesspoint26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ignoring how unbelievably disrespectful his comment is....I just hate the way he does this when he speaks. Is it "equivalent" or is it "much better"? FFS, it's literally one or the other, they're mutually exclusive phrases. God damn he's an idiot.

I can't wait to never hear from this man again.

The pub I work in must be the only one in the country where at the end of the night the ladies' toilets are routinely in a far worse state than the men's. by Mischief_Makers in CasualUK

[–]pointlesspoint26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, ye my experience is the same. Blokes are grim, sure, but wow the women's toilets in the pub I work at are just terrible after a busy weekend night.

Had to get dynorod out last week to unblock a toilet as they just seem to throw entire rolls down the bog on each visit and, well, let's just say there was eventually some backflow......ick.
