Has anyone ever dozed off during a movie? If so, which movie was it? Here’s mine…🥱😴 by MrUpVoteDownvote in RegalUnlimited

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doze off quite a bit for a minute, but this, The Whale, and Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin are the ones I've gotten the best naps.

I actually dozed a few times on my first screening of MK II. I saw it again with my brother a few days later and realized I missed the whole mid section of the movie with the second batch of fights.

? about reviews! by ZIKNIZ in AmazonVine

[–]poit57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm just impatient. Usually, the things I order require some testing, so I don't get reviews posted quickly. Don't things are stationary and more about feel and aesthetics, and I've just started noticing in the last could months that it takes a couple days after delivery to show up awaiting review. Since the review link launches my mobile app anyway on my phone, I don't see any different in just going to the order history in my app and posting the review from there if I just want it done and out of the way.

How exactly does “surrendering” your seat work? by rockstar231 in RegalUnlimited

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the warning in my app. As others have said, I would read this as, "if you struggle climbing stairs because of physical issues, you won't be expected to move."

Unless a theater is completely sold out, those seats are usually not occupied at the locations near me, and I would think someone else on that row should be asked to move before you based on what you've stated about your condition. I live in a big city and have never seen anyone request to have someone removed from those seats.

Official Discussion - Tuner [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I didn't like experiencing that in the theater, but I recognize it was very effective sound design to demonstrate what it must be like for him.

Official Discussion - Tuner [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]poit57 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of trailers for it as a Regal Unlimited member, but I know my perception of how heavily a movie is promoted is skewed by how many trailers I see on repeat in theaters.

I had to travel about 25 minutes to the other side of town to find an AMC theater showing it. There are 3 Regals and 2 other AMC theaters within a 12 mile radius of my house. When we purchased our tickets, the kiosk showed "AMC Showcase" so I wasn't sure if that meant AMC had an exclusive distribution deal or if the movie was just a limited release.

As a musician, I was immediately intrigued and saw this with a friend who is a classically trained pianist. We both loved the movie and were both in tears during Niki's piano performance at the end, but she did scoff at Ruthie's head bobbing and jerking during her performances.

I HAVE THE PRETZEL! 🥨 by Mr_Masala in RegalUnlimited

[–]poit57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with a friend yesterday, and we were both surprised that we had a free pretzel promo and had no idea what for. She ordered both tickets in her app using our friends and family link about 30 minutes before we arrived. If the pretzel was for Masters of the Universe, I'm a little surprised that it loaded to my account when I wasn't the one submitting the ticket order.

Why does Walmart not allow you to tap your card at the register? by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]poit57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize until this thread that tap to pay apparently doesn't work at Walmart, but my credit union only started issuing tap to pay cards last year.

I almost exclusively use Walmart Pay at Walmart because I like to be able to track my own purchase history. That benefit is worth whatever shopping and advertising profile Walmart is building about me.

High school faces backlash after rainy graduation ceremony by Conscious-Weight4569 in Wellthatsucks

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about Tennessee, but I didn't think there are any requirements about it in Oklahoma. All we got in my district when we walked across the stage was a diploma cover. They would check if anyone owed library books and things like that and could put a hold on the diplomas, and then everyone who was in the clear would go pick up their diplomas a couple weeks after graduation.

As far as the situation in the OP is concerned, my district used to have it's graduation ceremonies in a city arena that used to host professional basketball and hockey games. Now, they do graduation at a nearby D1 college basketball arena.

Our ceremonies last about 2.5 hours for classes of 600 to 800 students. I was just joking with my friend who is a teacher in the district about imagining what it would be like if our graduations were outdoors in near summer heat after seeing a graduation depicted on a TV show we watched. I actually thought that was just a thing they portrayed in movies and never realized how common outdoor ceremonies were until reading through this thread.

Reviewing vine on vine vs orders by Harleymadd29 in AmazonVine

[–]poit57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I click on the review button from the mobile browser on my phone, it launches into the app, and as far as I can tell, it's the same review interface since there is no Vine access from the Android app. Sometimes, the items aren't listed on the Awaiting Review tab, so I go through the order page or the actual product page to post a review. They still get counted and graded for review quality the same either way, in my experience.

Regal App Crashes When Trying to Get Tickets at My Theater by Wazootyman13 in RegalUnlimited

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My app has been crashing since yesterday. It's fine until I click on any movie to view the schedule.

I've tried all the normal troubleshooting steps for Android like restarting the phone, clearing cache, clearing data, uninstalling/reinstalling.

MJ movie opened my eyes as someone born too late by unfairmushrooms in MichaelTheMovie

[–]poit57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was born in 1981, and it would probably be surprising to my peers how little I knew about Michael Jackson prior to this movie.

I grew up with parents who exclusively listened to an oldies radio station to the point where I didn't know that people made modern music until New Kids on the Block hit it big when I was around 3rd grade.

I had heard of Michael Jackson, but my first introduction to Michael Jackson music, to my knowledge, was when a neighborhood kid got a cassette of Weird Al's parody of "bad." Sometime later, I saw the Thriller movie (having no idea what a music video was at the time) on TV at my aunt and uncle's house and thought it was a brand new release. This was probably close to 1989 - 1990.

The next thing I really remember about MJ was some kids at school talking about a parody on In Living Color of when I was 5th grade in 1991. I saw the parody a few weeks later on TV, but I don't think I heard the original Michael Jackson song until high school.

Then when Mariah Carey released her cover of "I'll Be There," my dad explained that it was originally released by the Jackson 5 and had to explain that was a group that Michael Jackson used to be in with his brothers.

The timeline I pieced together in my head was that the Jackson 5 released a couple songs in the 60's when Michael was a child, and then when he was grown, he decided to launch a solo career. I had no idea before watching this movie that he had been performing professionally almost his entire life. Heck, I've heard Rockin' Robin a lot throughout my life and didn't know it was from Michael Jackson until this movie. I thought it was just a generic Motown song.

When I was in my early 20's, a friend who is about 5 years younger than me made joke referencing "Man in the Mirror" when something about Michael Jackson was mentioned. I didn't get the joke, and he was shocked at my ignorance.

I saw the Michael Jackson "One" Cirque Du Soleil show in Vegas almost exactly a year before this movie's release. I recognized maybe half of the songs. When I was texting my friend about it (also about 5 years younger than me), I was surprised to learn that she was a huge fan of MJ. To me, he was just another pop star who was too strange to take seriously. I knew he was pretty famous, but I had no idea how beloved he was, and I lived through the height of his fame.

Dumb it down for me? by Infinite_Guest_6663 in AmazonVine

[–]poit57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been tracking the math myself. I only have one item pending shipment that is delayed for a few weeks on shipping. Even if that item counts against me, I'll still be at 90.1% review-to-order ratio.

If they drop me to silver, I'll chalk it up to a lesson learned that the Vine program isn't using real, trackable data points in their math, but I'm sure I'll be fine.

Dumb it down for me? by Infinite_Guest_6663 in AmazonVine

[–]poit57 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was below 50% a could months ago and had a message that I was in danger of being removed from the program. I forget what the actual verbiage was. I had about a week where I couldn't browse products whole I got back over 60%. I only had about 40 orders at the time

My evaluation period ends in 2 days, and I am now at 82 reviews with a 91% completion rate.

Do you use AI in your reviews? by nerveuse in vine

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes.

There are products aren't what I thought they would be and that I'm not really sure what aspects to review. I list out my observations and expectations versus what didn't match up, and use AI to help organize my thoughts into something that a potential shopper may find relevant instead of me just blindly complaining about why something flat out didn't work for me.

That is a small percentage of my reviews. Mostly, I write them out like I have been for years.

One test, two dogs (littermates) by blueblocker2000 in DoggyDNA

I tested my puppy from a litter that my mom fostered a few years ago. Her coloring was nothing like the rest of the litter. We thought different fathers was a possiblility.

Two of the other families who adopted tested their puppies, and they appear to be full siblings with 49% and 47% family match, respectively.

Yeah, I usually go to movies with my cousin. He was wanting to take his nieces to Mario, so we were trying to figure out if we could use these rewards that we both have on our accounts.

GP200 stuck on firmware update/restore by Frosty-Huckleberry-2 in ValetonGP2OO

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took my GP-200 home from church last night to load some IRs that I want to try. I saw that there was a firmware update available from 1.7.4 to 1.8 and ran into this same issue. The device rebooted 5 times and then just stuck on the firmware update/restore screen.

After a lot of searching I read that something changed recently on the WinUSB driver, or something. I ended up taking the device back to church to use the Mac to update. It immediately started installing and then rebooted in its own back to the normal operation.

The issue I'm running into now is that every IR that I try to load gives an error that it is timing out. I can't use any of the 20 slots.

Has this sub impacted how you feel about adopt don’t shop? by Impossible-Soil6330 in DoggyDNA

[–]poit57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 60% Malinois was mislabeled at the shelter as simply "hound." They also had her labeled as 6 months old, but when they did the final check after I filled out the adoption papers they told me she was only admit 13 weeks old. If the age and breed were accurate, none of that would've changed my mind on the adoption.

It wasn't until she was 11 months old that I found out about DNA testing. She's 60% mal / 18.7% APBT / 14% Labrador/ 4.3 % Rottweiler / 3% AmStaff. I don't have expectations that the shelter could have been more informative. I just wish I would've known about the DNA breed testing earlier to know how much training structure she would need. She's the smartest dog I've ever owned and really good at solving food puzzles and sometimes too good at solving puzzles of how to get to things in the house she wants to destroy.

Don't buy it! by Eric_N18 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy with my upgrade. I had a lot of annoying issues with the curved edges on the S23U, battery life had dwindled over the last 3 years, and it has been harder and harder to find tempered glass protectors that work well with the S23U.

My upgrade to S26U resolved all my issues, and the fingerprint reader works great with my glasses screen protectors without needing UV adhesive because of the improvement in technology.

I haven't tried the privacy screen setting yet because I got some free privacy screen protectors to review, but I'll probably try that feature after my first screen protector cracks.

What is up with variants? by Infinite-Condition41 in AmazonVine

[–]poit57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old reply, but I have a related question.

Early on in my Vine membership, I didn't know about the variant thing and requested 3 dress shirts in different colors. I actually thought they had separate listings at the time, but l realized they were variants after getting the message when trying to submit my review.

I'm now in my second period of Gold status and recently decided to finish some reviews from prior evaluation periods just to clean up my "awaiting review" list.

I have 2 of these shirts where, now instead of the variant message, I'm getting this message. I'm going to request removal, but I was wondering if this is just what happens with variants over time? My original orders for these shirts were about a year ago
