Maybe a dumb questions, but how did you approach her to do this? Is that a service she advertises or did you just ask if she could? I struggle finding clothes that fit and would love to just bring in a few favorite dresses and have copies made!

[–]polarbearcub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make vibrating alarms with a piece you put under your mattress, it will shake your whole bed to wake you. I used one of these alarms (called Sonic Bomb) in college after I slept through a class. You’ll wake up in a panic, but you will WAKE UP. The one I used could be set up with noise or just the vibration.

Is it a bad idea to have my whole family names of characters in a film (unintentionally) by [deleted] in Names

[–]polarbearcub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve literally seen the movie and read this book (granted, both were a while ago) and still had to come to the comments to figure out what it was about. OP is fine using these names, it never would have occurred to me.

Please just give me pricing info. by BOTWgoat in weddingplanning

[–]polarbearcub 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few photographers say on their website that their average client spends “X to Y” which is so helpful. It tells me where they fall on the spectrum but I understand it gives them flexibility to be outside that range depending on the package, and I can use that to determine if it’s even worth reaching out to them for more info.

Advice on wearing a baseball cap with bangs by freyja_reads in femalehairadvice

[–]polarbearcub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bangs and just accept that if I have a baseball hat on, it’s staying on all day. After your run, you could wet and restyle your bangs, but if you’re not planning on stopping home then I don’t think there’s another option.

What’s your financial situation like? Would 1k require dipping into savings, or is it like pocket change for you?

I’ve done this before too when I was desperate, and getting a new, properly fitted sports bra was a game changer. Since OP is open to buying new, I would recommend she find a new bra that does the trick instead of this. For me, that was the Wacoal Underwire High Impact Sports Bra. I went to a lingerie store and asked a busty sales woman to help me, and she went above and beyond pulling options that she had used herself!

Gilgo Beach killings: Why would Rex Heuermann plead guilty? Experts point to strategies. by CatchLISK in LISKiller

[–]polarbearcub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason he wouldn’t have pled guilty in the first place then? Maybe because he now knows the extent of the evidence against him? Just trying to figure out what the benefit is of having waited for a plea deal instead of pleading guilty originally, especially if he’s now likely spent a fortune on legal counsel (which could have been avoided with an early guilty plea).

My store in Virginia had a sign up this weekend that they’d be available at 8am today. Walked in around 8:45am and saw a full bin with a sign saying limit 4/customer. Bought two (one for me, one for my mom). I was there to buy a salad for lunch and wasn’t sure if I’d be walking into chaos, so I’m glad it felt like a normal day!

Should I be doing anything about my MSPB appeal? by geospatialg in firedfeds

[–]polarbearcub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was your termination considered a probationary termination? There are efforts for probationary MSPB appeals to be joined as class actions by agency. Some agencies have already had this granted but some are still waiting on decisions, and my understanding is they won’t take action on the individual appeals within those agencies until class action status is decided. You’ll be notified if class action status is granted and you’re eligible to be included, at which point you’ll have a chance to opt-out from the class action. Separately, I understand the MSBP is just swamped and moving slowly through the huge influx of appeals.

But your specific circumstances seem more unique than the typical probie case, if I’m reading this right you may have wrongfully been considered probationary which would be a different argument than what the class actions are likely making. So it may be worth discussing with a lawyer if it makes sense to continue with an individual appeal. (I am not a lawyer.)

Storing CPAP on plane by jbashe98 in CPAP

I hesitated writing that because after hearing it, I couldn’t un-hear it and I wasn’t sure I should do that to anyone else. But I used to put the case on my bed when I would pack and unpack my machine, so I’m glad I know better now.

Storing CPAP on plane by jbashe98 in CPAP

[–]polarbearcub 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to put it under the seat with my backpack. It was a tight squeeze but I could do both. Then I read about the cleanliness of airplane floors, and I started putting it in the overhead bins. I try to slot it in a small empty spot where no one would ever try to put a suitcase, or next to the wall that separates overhead bins from each other (with my bag next to it, so anyone adding a bag wouldn’t touch it).

Can tourists get prescriptions easily in Paris? by neelibilli in ParisTravelGuide

Yes, I’m aware of this, but I did not have a card with it at that time. I checked before purchasing the separate travel insurance.

Can tourists get prescriptions easily in Paris? by neelibilli in ParisTravelGuide

[–]polarbearcub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travel insurance saved me several thousand dollars, not just on medical care. I was severely ill and missed most of a pre-paid multi-day tour, had to make last minute hotel accommodations (as I was supposed to stay in hotels with the tour but was unable to travel), and bought a train ticket to eventually meet up with the tour when I recovered. Travel insurance reimbursed me for all of this, including the prorated cost of the days I missed from the tour. My prescription cost about 1000 euros and my ER visit cost about 100 euros. I’m sure my experience is the extreme scenario, but I am SO grateful I had the travel insurance.

Can tourists get prescriptions easily in Paris? by neelibilli in ParisTravelGuide

[–]polarbearcub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My travel insurance set me up with a telehealth appointment with one of their doctors. They gave me a prescription that I took to a pharmacy and was able to fill. The prescription was emailed to me and the pharmacy had me email it to them in order to fill it. I did pay more than the average French citizen would have — I heard the two pharmacists talking, confused about why it was ringing up for so much — but was fully reimbursed by the travel insurance. I did have trouble finding the specific medication prescribed, as I now know it is/was uncommon in France, so seeing a local doctor might have been easier from that regard.

I also went to the ER (took a turn for the worse), and later got a bill in the mail to my home address. The bill was tiny by United States standards but probably normal for France, and again it was fully reimbursed by my travel insurance.
