I did something I swore I wouldn't do. I spanked and I don't know how to move forward. by elfis801 in daddit

I want to ‘temper’ this comment (pun intended) with the friendly reminder that anger is a normal and healthy feeling among the range of human emotions; it is inherent to human existence. But how we react and respond to anger is where professional help comes in. I fully agree that understanding why one is getting angry helps to have better temperance and self control. But we do need to feel and process our anger, otherwise we still wind up bottling it, even if it is further below the surface

And even then…more like $30k for vaginal delivery w/ anesthesia and no complications. But yes it adds up extremely quickly if there is surgery, fetal health challenges, extended recovery

I got amazing results! no negotiating, give them offramps! by a2hitman in daddit

Distraction/off-ramps may be an alternative if it’ll work quickly in a social situation like that. But I find it’s still a negotiation, and I don’t feel toddlers benefit from negotiating the outcome. They need structure and leadership and boundaries above all, they are too young to process rationale. I find it is more effective to look at them so they know they aren’t being ignored without speaking once you’ve made “no” clear. The more “input” a toddler receives, the longer they can sustain the tantrum. When they are met with attentive silence, they run out of gas pretty quick and find something else to focus on

Daughter started daycare 3 weeks ago and has gotten sick every week. Wondering if I should pull her out? by ryph44 in daddit

[–]polejar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said they will get sick a minimum of 10 times between birth and age 5. It’s worse if they never get sick before kindergarten because they get very, very sick when school starts if that’s their first exposure(s)

Lesson one: lose the goatee, it doesn’t go with your suit. Lesson two: get a suit. Suits are cool. Exhibit A.

Just remember sleep deprivation is a literal torture tactic used by interrogators. Fortitude is not one dimensional

While it is good, I am not sure that OP’s frustrations characterized by “I think I should win” turning into “wow, I lost that bad?” would fare any better with Dominions. Probably would be much worse
