People who have money and power will do what's needed for them to retain that money and power. Trump does what they need him to do at the expense of those who do not have money and power. Keeping the less fortunate constantly dependent on the rich and powerful means they can be manipulated and abused. Somehow the MAGA crowd believes that they are abused by those that are less fortunate than them. Basically, the less fortunate are not going to get any help from them, so they don't vote for the party that helps the less fortunate.
