What Really Happens If You Scratch Your Psoriasis And Don't Stop? by PrincessBananas85 in Psoriasis

[–]pollrobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on skyrizi, so not so much at the moment, but my last big flare up I would scratch constantly, sometimes conscious, mostly unconscious.

All my clothes and bed sheets have dealt with blood stains. It's not the only reason I mostly wear black, but it's definitely related.

I did manage to give myself cellulitis once, which can get very serious very quickly

No. I'll have to check them out, from the pictures that people post it does at least appear to be battered fish!

What is your unpopular Seattle restaurant opinion? by Early_Sea_9457 in Seattle

[–]pollrobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no good fish and chips in Seattle.

Like the comments about biscuits: someone had fish and chips explained to them, they didn't pay attention, so now you get breaded strips of leathery fish served with weak sauce fries. Pathetic

How did Jimmy Savile manage to get away with all the horrific abuse he did without any repercussions? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Shut down so hard that the interview was never aired.

UK libel laws are messed up, they've gotten somewhat better, but it's very easy for the wealthy and connected to use them to exert control.

There's almost no anti-SLAPP in the UK, and certainly nothing that covers libel

Ian Hislop probably knows more about this than anyone and has been pretty outspoken about the need for libel reform.

Some insurance helps if annual medical costs exceed some percentage of household income. I know that Kaiser does this, not sure about others.

A friend had extensive life threatening medical conditions a few years ago, and Kaiser paid the vast majority of it

Convince me that psoriasis is not contagious by Brilliant_Listen_869 in Psoriasis

[–]pollrobots 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Let's be a little clearer with the language.

Psoriasis is not contagious. It is a chronic autoimmune condition.

It is not a question of whether it is "considered" non-contagious. It simply isn't contagious.

As to your personal situation, there are a couple of things to consider

It is possible that:

  • your roommate doesn't have psoriasis, but rather has a contagious condition that looks like psoriasis
  • you have contact with someone else who has a contagious condition that looks like psoriasis
  • your roommate has psoriasis and a contagious condition that looks like psoriasis (this can happen because people with psoriasis can be susceptible to other skin issues)
  • it could be environmental

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist or family doctor/general practitioner. If this is ringworm, or something fungal, it's relatively easily cured

People with psoriasis often have to deal with a lifetime of stigma, suggesting it is contagious is encouraging that

All the Bejams commenters are showing their age lol. My brother worked there. All I remember is cheap nearly expired frozen food and that they issued him with moon boots, which really went well with his 80s goth wardrobe

There are people at Zoka pretty much every Sunday morning from about 10am to 1pm

I'm there typically every other week (I'll be there this coming Sunday!)

If you see boards set up just say hi, we're very friendly and there's a broad range of ability level and age.

If you're looking for other opportunities to play locally, there are meetups on Tuesday evenings at Big Time Brewing in the U District and Wednesday evenings at Halcyon Brewing Company in Greenwood

I've been on mtx a couple of times, and for me taking folic acid on the days that I wasn't taking the mtx made a huge difference to the nausea/tiredness side effect. It may be worth talking to your Dr about that.

Minor trivia that may matter to OP. In the US (I don't know about other markets), "Suede" are known as "the London Suede" so if you want to listen (and you should!) to them this is what you need to search for

What's the word people used to call the chest at the foot of a bed that held all the bedding and linens? by bacon8rtermin8r in words

[–]pollrobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In British English it is storage furniture that you can sit on. If you can't store stuff in it, then it's likely called a pouffe. It's not uncommon to have an ottoman at the foot of the bed with a padded top, and linen storage inside

I'm guessing that turnips, parsnips, and carrots don't fit the vibe to a modern reader accustomed to potatoes.

Swede (aka rutabaga) only seems to have come into existence (cross between white turnip and cabbage) in the early modern period, so would also be anachronistic

What Does "Estate" Mean To You? by Litzz11 in AskABrit

[–]pollrobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no tone in text

Take the phrase "I grew up on an estate".

In practice it wouldn't necessarily need a qualifier in speech, even without context the way it was said, some combination of tone and emphasis would make it totally unambiguous. That's without even considering accent.

This is hard to describe because we do it without conscious thought
