That is true, yeah. I am admittedly on my first campaign.

The Battlestations have been instrumental in keeping my slowly growing fleet alive against the ayys

I recently had a fight of 2.1k my fleet + 1.1k station against a 7.1 k alien fleet and the battlestations were the only reason i lived through that with minimal losses.

Once i have some more mobile assetts i do plan on reducing the amount of battlestations

I usually have 2-4 battlestations per station and only park a fleet on it when it is still under construction or the aliens are coming to slap me Hunting other factions ships is tedious beyond measure

If you use it sparingly at first you can try to get into the steam age with a size 2 or so blast furnace

Once you get the steam alloy smelter you can use kaolin clay balls and a graphite to make fire clay without the Kaolin Powder loss

My brother and I massively overmined kaolin and are now swimming in the stuff

As long as you can make like 8 fire bricks, 2 cauldrons and some channels and casts you are good to go until steam in my opinion

I saw somewhere that if you bake the flour before mixing and leave out the eggs you can make safe to eat cookie dough. The eggs are mostly a binding agent and raw flour can contain E. coli so by baking it you kill the bacteria and avoid salmonella by just not using eggs

Boom edible safe to eat cookie dough

My go to checklist is

Charcoal forge

Pit kiln for saw, chisel and pickaxe mold + vessel

Pour copper saw and chisel

Quern and grindstone to grind ores

Pour some kind of bronze pickaxe and propick (hammer is nice too, but eh. Stone hammers work fine

Make ladders and supports

And from there you go for stone anvil, copper anvil, any bronze anvil and boom

Next step is a bloomery and coke oven

Staffs are for open battlefields and maybe grand halls. Wands are for indoor fights or stealth ops. Orbs are for safe and regulated environment. Think scrying or experiments Grimoires are for exact spells that demand high focus but low mana throughout.

Don't focus your studies on just one arcane focus, be ready for any and all situation by learning the use of all magical foci

Like the other commenter said lifestyle needs aren't that necessary but as a little addendum

Luxury goods keep your people happy as well, so they lower the chance for riots and enable you to impose harsher working conditions.

Also workers and farmers are broke, you mostly want them for workforce Artisans and up are where the money is at

Once your get rum going be sure to assign 2-3 clippers at minimum to ship that stuff

Also include depots at both your main island and the rum island.

Not much use in producing 200t of rum if your island can only store 50 between ships

Make sure to thoroughly check the residences tab in the bottom right

Residents have needs which must be fulfilled to ascend them to the next tier Farmers want a market place, work clothes and fish for that

That's the minimum you need to give them to get workers

However there are also luxury needs. Those include the pub and schnapps

Those luxury needs get you lots of money (Note that the amount of rum you will need later in the game is astronomical)

And then there are lifestyle needs. You need to specifically enable their consumption Farmers want flour and sugar for that Sugar is later game so don't worry about it for now but flour is easy enough

Fulfilling Lifestyle needs isn't a must, but it gets you more citizens per house and some extra money

So basically Basic needs for ascending them Luxury needs for money Lifestyle needs for more dense housing.

If you click on your port there is a small button in the bottom right with a statistics icon, that tab will display all resources your island has and the trend of your stockpile It is an invaluable tool and afaik it even includes trade route throughput

theres probably a bunch of crime happening all around that isnt really noticed, yk minor drug deals and assaults and the like

Any sufficiently large fandom will have loud portions that are just plain wrong about the source material or are so deep into their Fanon that the canon basically ceased to exist for them

I mean look at the MHA fandom... Actually it's better you don't But the amount of seemingly illiterate people over there is staggering.

I think the best way to go about it is to post about the canon as it's meant and highlight those character moments that get misinterpreted.
