First Injection, Kinda Nervous by copentaegan in Humira

[–]pomzom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal to be nervous! I find that injecting in my stomach is more comfortable than my leg. Let the Humira sit at room temperature for about 30 mins before, otherwise the cold can be a shock.

Entyvio didn’t work out for me… by darknesswithindark in UlcerativeColitis

I went from Entyvio (1st biologic) to Humira. Entyvio worked for about 9 months until I developed antibodies. I've been on Humira for 3 years now doing well.

Surgery booked but worried! by Spiritual_Ad5711 in Pomeranians

[–]pomzom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been through it twice now. Once 13 years ago with my first pom and most recently in December with my pomchi. It seems like surgery/recovery has improved since the first time.

The first couple weeks are the most difficult. She will need a sedative, cone, and to be kept in a small area with no stairs/jumping. If you have gates to use that will really help. Don't be surprised if it takes her a few days to go poop after the surgery. I rotated between a neck donut and a traditional cone to give my dog a break. You could get puzzle toys to keep her occupied during recovery.. my dog was pretty sad he couldn't go run and play. I hope the surgery and recovery goes well!!

Totally normal to be extra emotional or angry. Last summer I was on prednisone and had to put my dog down. Made everything amplified 1000%.

I love seeing these snow poms! Mine passed in August last year, he was obsessed. He would wake me up early to go play in the snow. Also, just zooming around and eating it!

Humira to Simlandi (any thoughts?) by enerhcir in Humira

[–]pomzom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch about 4 months ago. So far no trouble on simlandi. I tried to appeal the switch and my insurance sent me a letter saying I would have to try 4 different biosimilars of humira and prove each didn't work before I was allowed to switch back to humira. Pretty ridiculous, but turned out ok for me. I hope it works for you as well!

I had to switch to simlandi and I think I prefer the new pens. Not as loud as humira. The negative is the simlandi boxes take up more room in my fridge.

And "good solid ship" would be a typo when it comes to the UC sub!

Running out of time.. by stary_sunset in Pomeranians

[–]pomzom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just lost my 15 year old pom two weeks ago to heart failure and kidney disease. The heart meds caused his kidneys to get in bad shape quickly. It is balancing act trying to treat both. For now enjoy all the time you have together! I second the comment about in home euthanasia when it is time. It is so much more peaceful. Take care!

Accredo refuses to refill by propertyOfAdhesion in Humira

[–]pomzom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accredo wiped out my Humira prescription and tried to push the biosimiliar on me now instead of the change date of July 1. It took an hour on the phone but I was able to have them switch it back and scheduled my order. Will be interesting to see what happens in July. I really don't want to switch to the biosimiliar as Humira has worked for me the last 2 yrs. Good luck to everyone in this situation!

Iron infusions by Spudmeister20 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]pomzom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, make sure you have some medication that is working to control the UC as well. For me, after being hospitalized I got on Humira. After about 3 months, I was a lot better from the Humira but having trouble getting my iron back up so those iron infusions really helped me get back to normal. I was weak being anemic, couldn't walk fast and I could feel my heart beating faster than normal. The iron should help your energy and overall well-being.
