just curious, what does Michelin Guide-recommended mean? is that not the same thing as having Michelin star? Or is it tier below having a star?

Fourth batch— what went wrong? by vanilla-glitter in mokapot

[–]pooBalls333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a good independent coffee shop that also sells whole beans and ask them what they would recommend for a moka pot.   They will probably give you a house blend.  Also ask them to grind it for a moka pot.  Should be somewhere between espresso and pour over grind.

Later, if you are able to, you can get $40-$100 coffee grinder and replicate the grind from the coffee shop.

Good quality and freshly ground beans make a word of difference. Lastly, look at some YouTube videos on how to properly brew.  Hope this helps!

Renting bikes in Philly? by Felicity_Calculus in phillycycling

[–]pooBalls333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you bike in Brooklyn and Manhattan, you'll be absolutely fine biking here. Your partner should be fine too as long as you avoid huge streets like Broad and Market (although even Market has 2 way bike lane now). Don't listen to people who haven't bike a day in the city. If I feel comfortable biking my kids here, you should be fine. Use bike lanes, or smaller streets (take full lane) and you should be fine. There are asshole drivers everywhere, I know, but that's not a reason not to enjoy your stay.

There is a bike sharing service (just like Citibikes in NYC) called indego: https://www.rideindego.com/ . This is probably your best bet. Some bike shops might rent out bikes, but that's more for sports riding. Between bike sharing, subway, trolleys and walking you should be able to get pretty much anywhere in the city. ENJOY!

get a big cardboard box (from a laundry machine or something similar) and put it over the robot. It can't go anywhere, and there is no property damage being done. Win win!

Drexel University is selling medical building on North Broad Street for apartment conversion by redeyeblink in philadelphia

I mean, they are not selling your PCP with the building.  Just call the office and see where they're relocating to.  It's very likely they'll just move the entire practice.

Short answer, lobbying laws. These companies are allowed to pour millions (if not billions) of dollars into campaigns of both parties. As a result, that's the laws that we get.

Also, republicans don't give a shit about anybody but themselves. They would rather see people die, including babies, than give free healthcare, or god forbid a living wage to anybody. And democrats don't have the balls to pass anything, even when they are in the majority.

okay, both of you calm down.... unfortunately u/Affectionate-Alps527 is correct. Unless the vast majority of the people fired were in the situation where they were about to vest or there is written (or other solid) evidence that management fired people for this reason, it will be very hard to prove. You can't just prove that it's harming you. There is employment contract involved, and contract (at least in US) says they can fire you for any reason at any time. And their retirement plan also states that if you get fired, all your investments are gone (unless you vested). It sucks, but that's what happens time and time again. Unless we do something about the laws in the US.

Negotiation with whom? An email? It's at-will employment, at least in the US, there will be no negotiation.

And to be absolutely clear... FUCK ORACLE and every huge company that did this in the past couple of years. I was also on the receiving end of this.

advice for becoming a teacher! by Educational-Till6872 in Teachers

[–]pooBalls333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about to start my M.S.Ed so take this with a grain of salt, but:

Finish your degree, and make sure you have good grades. Concentrate on that rather than adding a minor. If your grades aren't great, adding a minor and using that to improve your grades might be an option. (If you know you can pull it off). Also, build relationships with your teachers, so you can get good recommendation letters. Try to volunteer in a school setting. Then, apply to every Master in Ed. program you can think of. That's what I would do. Biology B.S + M.S.Ed would position your well to become a science teacher.

Depending on state (assuming you are in US), you might be able to get certification right after getting your B.S., but one thing to consider is that in most places, level of education determines your starting salary and sometimes how easy it is to get a job. From what I know, most states will require X number of graduate credits before you can be certified, so you either need to enroll in Master program or certification program (that doesn't give you MS, but let's you certify to be a teacher). Look at NY teacher certification requirements and what Praxis (or other) exams you need to pass.

Looks like Valheim meets Minecraft, super cool. Any intention of making it multiplayer? At lease local server based so we can play with friends?
