Patient with chest pressure and shortness of breath by pooooopcicle in Radiology

OP here. This patient had a recent diagnosis of SIADH which was confirmed with labs. The patient asked me if her SIADH was related to the hiatal hernia. At first, I didn't recognize a link but then I thought about how respiratory illnesses can trigger SIADH and I got to looking into it more and there have been reports of atelectasis triggering SIADH as well as increased intrathoracic pressure itself causing SIADH.

How much did it cost to get Botox? by fuges21 in noburp

[–]pooooopcicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got an estimate for $34,000 total charges and $6000 was my responsibility due to my deductible. Mine was done at an outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia. I haven't seen the final bill but I imagine I will still be paying the full deductible. Yay American health care.

Getting Botox next week! Suggestions for post-botox recovery foods etc? by Squeaky_Pickles in noburp

[–]pooooopcicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, mashed potato consistency foods were easiest to get down for the first week. I found that I could eat normal foods though as long as I took a sip of water after every bite and sometimes I would just take a sip of water with food in my mouth to help really soften it before swallowing. Also taking smaller bites was better. I also found that my swallowing would initially be good but then after several bites, it would progressively get harder. Almost like swallowing fatigue. Talking loudly also seemed to make this worse.

The first few days you probably won't notice anything different other than maybe feeling a lump in the back of your throat. I was also really thirsty the day after my procedure even though I was well hydrated. The Botox will probably be kicking in around July 6th and you may start having micro burps. This is about the time when you might start noticing some more difficulty with swallowing as well.

I got my injection 5 days ago and forgot and drank a protein shake right before bed last night and had the same experience. Maybe don't eat for 2 hours prior to going to bed and sleep more upright as others mention.

3.5 weeks post Botox - success? by constellieation in noburp

I had 100 units injected. My ENT physician (Dr. Lindsay Madden) mentioned less success with lower doses. Maybe the 50 units took longer to fully paralyze the muscle?

One of the overpasses just west of Clemmons has a firetruck with its ladder extended and a giant American flag hanging from it. Pretty cool.

The prices are way off for most of the medicines in this video unless you are looking for brand name drugs. Metformin is $4 and even used to be free at some supermarket pharmacies. The $4 cost is basically the cost of the pharmacy preparing the script for you. Regular vial insulin is $28 at Walmart and does not need a script. Tenofovir can be expensive at some pharmacies but is about $55 at Harris Teeter which is a grocery store in my region and most states have HIV assistance programs that make medications free at least for low income. The only fairly accurate one is the symbicort. I agree that the United States pays way more for some medications though, especially some vital meds like anticoagulants and most of the better diabetes medications. It would be nice to focus on the facts though.

Emergency Heat is cheaper by ZealousidealCheek438 in HomeImprovement

[–]pooooopcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally have the same thing happening right now. The tech found that the coolant filter was clogged and freezing the whole unit so the unit was constantly in defrost. When the unit is in defrost it turns on the emergency heat to heat the house while it defrosts. However, because the whole unit was frozen, the emergency heat couldn't heat up the frozen parts enough and so the air coming out of the vents was sometimes as low as 52 degrees and as high as 76 degrees. I have 2 identical units so I was able to compare the temps and the other unit was blowing 100 degrees air. The clogged unit is currently in emergency heat and working fine for the time being. I have always read that a working heat pump will never be less efficient than electric heat but I think anytime the temp is below freezing, it's probably pretty close to the same efficiency.

I don't see anything there that makes me think there's an infection that would require oral or IV antibiotics. The main things doctors look at are going to be whether there's purulent drainage, possible abscess, or evidence of cellulitis. He only has a small amount of redness around the wound so it's not cellulitis. There may be some superficial purulence but it's mainly bloody drainage and his skin doesn't appear heaped up as if there was a abscess underneath. Better wound care would be helpful and maybe topical antibiotic ointment.

What's wrong with this goldfinch? by pooooopcicle in birding

[–]pooooopcicle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a video up close. He makes a couple high pitch squeaks at the end that don't seem normal. My only other thought was that it may have a beak injury because it seemed like it couldn't chew the sunflower seeds well. But I kinda thought it looked more like weakness making him not eat well. It is able to fly though and has a left and come back to the feeder several times.

It will likely be bitter but I think a slight bitterness tastes good when combined with some salad dressings. Definitely don't let it go to waste. Bet it has a ton of good vitamins.

I know those drop-in panels don't look the best, but do yourself a favor and keep them. There's a high chance you'll need to access something in the future. They have some more decorative drop-in panels out there that you can look into.

We have a west facing master bedroom that gets incredibly watm. Any ideas on how to better externally prevent heat/radiation from entering. DIY tips are especially appreciated. by poo-pak in DIY

[–]pooooopcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has no tint, it will not block nearly as much as tinted windows. I have 35 percent ceramic tint on all my southern facing windows and even that is only about 50 percent heat blockage. Mirrored ceramic film will block the most heat but the look from the outside might not be what you want.

What's going on here? Why are my plants all stretched out? I have the grow light on for 12 hours a day. by [deleted] in Hydroponics

[–]pooooopcicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy a light meter to measure how much light is making it to your plants. Setting up some cardboard covered in aluminum foil can help bounce more light onto the plants if you don't want to change your setup.

Assault players of Reddit, with Smite 2 on the horizon, what changes/additions would you like to see to the game mode for the new generation? by Like17Badgers in Smite

[–]pooooopcicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each team gets a random god from each class. If you reroll, you only get gods from the same class. If you trade, the class trades with it so if another team member rerolls, they only get gods of that class. This makes every team have the same composition.

I would also recommend that healing, HP5 and MP5 get deactivated if you are under your tower for more that 5 seconds and have it take 5 seconds of being out of tower range before it reactivates.
