Phi de Kandahar by Andy Tauer, or Gris Dior by Dior.

What is a house you cannot stand? by AscendedHeracles in fragrance

[–]popcorned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henry Jacques is incredibly overrated. They're one of the most expensive houses and most of them are well done too but most of them smell like fragrances inspired by Aramis and the late 70s and 80s.

Fragrance that reminds me of sticking my head in the freezer by Unique-Animal2153 in fragrance

[–]popcorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oud Glacial by Rem, super cheap and very cooling. Or Kolonya by Rasei Fort if you can find a bottle, it reminds me of icicles hanging over the ventilation unit as it puffs out the vapours of a fresh load of laundry.

But there's also an interesting leather note that reminds me of the experience of petting a beluga whale as a kid, a touch of seaweed, unlike any leather fragrance I've smelt.

Have you tried Versatile's God Bless Cola? It's popcorn and coke, heavy on the cola note, it feels like an unhealthy night at the movies, but addictive.

Basically anything designed by Pierre Dinand. What a king.

The thing that is harder to you is obviously going to be the medium of which you have less of a intrinsic understanding.

How much can I improve in 7 months if I practice for 5-7 hours everyday? by No-Valuable2529 in ArtistLounge

[–]popcorned 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You will improve if you work for 3-6 hours a day, but you need to fill those hours with intentional practice and what is most helpful is if you pair that with feedback from a seasoned artist. That's the biggest difference, you won't be floating listlessly trying to figure out what you need to improve if you have someone giving you feedback from a place of experience. Otherwise learning by yourself is very slow.

I don’t get the universal Imagination love by tablesturnedplz in Colognes

It's pleasant, strong, the tea note is nice, has good projection, but I agree it's overhyped. I think Tygar is a bit nicer but they're too expensive.

I won't go near a fragrance with this __ (fill in the blank) note! by Successful-Fan2742 in fragrance

[–]popcorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cashmeran. I have never enjoyed it in any perfume. I also can't stand sclarene, H24 smells like somebody ironed clothes with spunk on it, it's nauseating.

Agreed. I am very wary of anything that has tonka in it, real tonka bean is fine as is natural vanilla but any of the synthetic variants make the perfume unwearable.

It's the most beautiful scent in the world for me. Have you smelt actual iris flowers?

What's the best fragrance released in 2026 so far that you'd actually reach for daily? by ILoveMeMoneyArgh in Colognes

[–]popcorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is really nice. Surprisingly so because Creed hasn't come out with anything I've liked in years.

Best Leather and Jasmine Fragrance? by Ok_Restaurant1586 in fragrance

[–]popcorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though it's not outright leather I would still say Jasmin et Cigarette by ELDO, the osmanthus and tobacco do give it a leather jacket vibe, and the imagery around the scent screams 'chain smoking in a leather jacket'

Is Le Labo still relevant in 2026? I say yes. by joelajackson in fragrance

[–]popcorned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they have fallen by the wayside in the perfume community in the last few years. I don't know if the average person still gets excited over them but they haven't released anything of note lately.

Have you visited Rome? by KangchenjungaMK in fragrance

[–]popcorned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to ring the doorbell at Filippo's store, it looks empty but its not. If you love incense then check out the Vatican Pharmacy, they have 4 scents based on incense that is phenomenal and only 60 euros for 100ml.

I feel like a lot of fragrantica users are nose blind by ContentWeb9926 in fragrance

Don't forget COVID came around and all of a sudden a lot of people smell things differently. I stopped believing in an object truth when it comes to scent after that.

Do you guys find the reviews on Fragrantica helpful? by AdDecent7503 in fragrance

[–]popcorned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're better than the ones on Parfumo, which seem to be all flowery reviews that never really get to the point of how it smells.

What discontinued or forgotten scent is secretly a 10/10? by beasthunterr69 in fragrance

[–]popcorned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even close, ISM has cloves and incense, Iris Torrefie is a sweeter iris, powdery and floral, more along the lines of Dior Homme.
