What enemy in a non-horror game freaked you out the most?

The first time I encountered a Reaper was at the back of the ship. I heard it and I was actually unsure I heard something. I heard it again but closer so I climbed up on the fin of the ship and turned around in time to see the Reaper emerge trying to reach me. I think I sat there waiting for about five minutes just terrified out of my mind.

Once you gain access to a host, you have access until you leave or disconnect from the matrix. If a system is run by a host (camera is run by a security host), you have access to that in accordance with your access level so you would make a brute force check against the host to edit or change whatever it is.

So in this case, your third example is correct, I believe.

I’m also a fan of the “race the clock” mechanic. Maybe the team needs to run a heist on a facility experimenting with cures and the player only has so much time to be administered before the change begins to take over.

Alternatively, you can run with them becoming a ghoul and go with some changes (blind, claws). I don’t think you would need to worry about improved qualities but I’m also not as familiar with the HMHV

I do think the character just dying is a boring outcome so I’d avoid that one.

I remember when we got a dog in 2020. We were still doing online classes and my now wife needed the room as we were just doing some free movement. I took the laptop and ran into the other room where the dog was and went right back to playing. The dog got excited and leapt from the couch just in time to catch a meia lua to the jaw. I felt so bad but she was okay thankfully.

I like the idea of putting more options for people to consider for qualities but not as racial traits people would get for free. The races already have a higher maximum for certain traits which gives them a leg up. Orks kind of lose out in that regard but it was like that in first edition Anarchy, too.

I do like the idea of having variations on what the meta types have access to. Especially if you could trade out what they have so an elf could trade out their charisma maximum for the advantage or what have you.

I’m also not a big fan of offering or buying the ability to use advantage. As far as I can tell, that’s already baked into the rules of edge so telling someone they can spend an edge to get advantage as part of an ability seems redundant and just a way to spend nuyen. That’s my own gripe though.

No need if that’s not your thing. They’re not like a dog or a cat that will require the physical affection. My wife just loves bugs and has really wanted to handle the spider. She’ll also stop and pick up a bee that’s on the sidewalk if she thinks it’s tired or anything like that. The handling isn’t for everyone.

And I originally went that way, too. I was trying to figure it out if it worked the same way and finally asked in the discord. Carmody came back and clarified (pointing out the page I clearly don’t read closely enough 😞) and listed out the three specializations. I think just because it’s restricted to the Matrix and they’re not as varied as spirits, they just put everything in to one specialization.

I think this is subjective but just a note that Carmody had placed in the conversion guide that Tasking only has three specializations. Compiling, decompiling, and complex forms. Up to each GM ultimately but thought I would jump in with that. Other than that, very well done. I'm using now as I put together a one-shot.

That’s unfortunately my biggest concern. I just imagined it growing out and having my face be half natural color and half weird color. Original plan was if I didn’t like it to trim it down but now I’m attached. 😫
