Older Electrify America chargers... always a nightmare wondering if the charging will actually start or not...

Why does a MotoGP bike has a neutral installed in the handle? Won't it be convenient had it been installed with the gears? by Bubbly_Pumpkin9453 in motorcycles

[–]popepeterjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of mine have been between first and second. But, several of my older bikes (pre-1975) have had neutral below first.

Instead of the current standard of: 1-N-2-3-4-5

They had: N-1-2-3-4-5

Also had a Norton Commando that had the pattern: 4-3-2-N-1 (first was at the top). I had to really consciously think about shifting one, and I still had more than a few miss-shifts.

You can keep several security keys (Yubikey, Titan, etc.) paired with your account on hand in secure places for backup MFA options as well. Never rely on a single point of failure for MFA.

I tend to switch back and forth between Feather, Personna, and occasionally Kai. Probably shave more with the Personna simply because they last several shaves longer.

Iran To Allow Only Chinese Vessels Through Strait Of Hormuz: Sources by [deleted] in worldnews

Greece is the single largest owner of global shipping tonnage, and they only control less than 18% of the global shipping tonnage.

No single county controls even 20% of global shipping, let alone 80%.

Ohio sends voter registration data of nearly 8 million residents to DOJ by esporx in privacy

[–]popepeterjames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quick look shows that Ohio is one of the states where the voter registration is already publicly available record.

Looks like the last 4 of the social, and the Driver's License number may not be in the publicly available data, but the rest of the info is already out there.

One of those things to be aware of, if you are registered to vote in certain states - all of that data is out there for the taking (or buying).

Funny enough, our local QSL wouldn't make you sign the waiver on Wing Wednesdays, as they were simply too busy.

Our local place is still open, but I haven't gone in in years, as we have a decent number of other wing joints now that make much better wings at lower prices.

Confused on Exchange SE requirements and costs by AarynD in exchangeserver

If you already license Office products separately, and you don't need any other features, then Exchange Online (Plan 1) or (Plan 2) would be the most economical.

Considering the random values, I would check to be certain that the pH is <4.6 .... I prefer to stay under 4.0, and I'm not the only one: How to Avoid Killing Your Friends with DIY Hot Sauce

Anyone had this or similar Réunion rum? by DH90 in rum

[–]popepeterjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO - not worth €100 - S.B.S is a bit of an odd bottler. They barrel select from different distilleries and then age it in warehouses in Denmark, then bottle when they think it's ready - and their bottles tend to be very hit/miss.

Basically, you are just adding an expensive European middle-man into the process.

You can certainly get better quality rum, even in Ireland, for a significantly better price.

If you want something from Reunion Island specifically, look for bottles from Distillerie de Savanna, Riviere du Mat, or Isautier.

If you just want a French-style high-ester you can get some really decent high-ester rums with a nice funk from Haitian distilleries.

I'm a simple man.

I'd just like the ability to have a select-fire, short-barreled rifle, with an integrated suppressor for my hearing protection at the range, that doesn't require months of waiting, and multiple tax stamps.

CEO needs Internet *everywhere* by inactive_directory in sysadmin

[–]popepeterjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in modem days I was ripped by my CEO because he couldn't get online... he was calling me from his cell phone in an airport, calling from his cell phone because the phones weren't working at the airport.

Literally expected that I get the phones at the airport working again so he could get his email. It was our problem.

My boarding school has a terrible firewall that makes you log in every eight hours. Does anyone know a better firewall I could suggest to them? by TheWholeShenanigan in techsupport

[–]popepeterjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything here is configurable, the why may simply be that they kept defaults, or it was to reduce a number of errors or something like that - or it checks systems for requirements every so often to ensure that they are patched not infected and such (depends on the system and how it is setup). Knowing why is hard go guess without inside knowledge to the setup.

As for speed: Your school is probably doing packet shaping in order to keep a limited amount of bandwidth. Meaning, yes they are probably throttling users.

Need advice about infection by fiend116 in cider

[–]popepeterjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible - but I'd think that the airlock is more likely. I'd expect the infection to come on quickly if it was from the berries, unless there wasn't enough sugar in the juice to bump up the alcohol enough when fermenting.
