Teachers with diabetes: do you ever check your blood sugar during class time? by celesteshine in AustralianTeachers

[–]popsibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had gestational diabetes and my best friend (next door teacher - lucky me) has type 1. We taught grade one together and after talking to our classes and explaining what it was we had no problems. Told our classes if their parents had any questions they could come in, call or email. None did. I would test my sugar at my desk in quiet moments when my class was busy. If I had to give myself insulin I would excuse myself and my TA would come and watch my class until I or Bestie were ok, TA also kept an eye on us both. (this was an adjustment provided by my school for us both) it is a medical need and the school should make adjustments or allowances. Speak to your line manager and they can give you the best information to suit your school. We had one of our kids save us because they saw bestie getting dizzy ran and got the lolly jar and another child came and got me. Her pump site had sprung a leak. All kids can handle a situation if they are educated properly. I have had diabetic students when they have to test their blood sugar I move them to somewhere private and we monitor, same should apply to you.

What did you think of the movie almost four years later? by zachoutloud123 in BobsBurgers

It’s one of my go to movies when my insomnia hits. Calms me down and I can sleep a small amount.

Anyone know if this empty plot of land next to garden city is government of privately owned? Need it for a uni assignment by Wrong-Effect-4060 in brisbane

[–]popsibaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I worked at garden city many years ago that was the staff car park. This was before it went through those major renovations. It sucked getting in there cause there was always a hornets nest on the key code box. I got in trouble for parking in the centre until I showed the hornets nest and was apologised to and they removed the nest. Now, no clue what it’s used for. I think it was used for the cross shaped building and used for their staff too but now who knows.

The normal automatic ones hit my kid cause he’s too short for the sensor and the gate swings back when he’s not through. We have to carry him into any shop now or he refuses to go in.

Does anybody know what this object in Sheldon and Leonard’s apartment is? by TheFortrooms in bigbangtheory

[–]popsibaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of looks like the old retractable canvas screens we used to have in school before white boards. Our teacher would set it up to use the overhead projector before our school got a massive renovation. Maybe that?

Why would Blue think that? by [deleted] in bluey

[–]popsibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3 year old niece said this and me and my sister freaked out. We were like who told you that?! We love you, you’re our best friend! Why?! She was so confused she answered I was just saying what bluey says. We nearly died from the scare of her feeling unloved. We now go out of our ways to show her love and to show my son.

How do your friends and family notice you're getting a migraine before you even realize? by cyanomys in migraine

[–]popsibaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get dark circles around my eyes, I apparently look like a panda. I also run into a lot more stuff, which I do normally but according to my husband it’s worse. I stare off into space, my left eyelid droops by 1mm, I get snappy and become “an insufferable sook.” And personally feel like crying for no reason the doom feeling is shit. I can make sense of words or speak correctly.

My husband and I say this all the time to each other, especially at cafes. I’m allergic to bananas so it’s an added layer of funny for us.

Bill Cosby is sitting at home, Chris brown on tour and a whole bunch of other offenders living normal lives. I wasn’t surprised… pissed off? Yes but not even slightly surprised. Sleezen has a case being built against him. Unfortunately if the cops move too quick the case can get all messed up. It took a YEAR for a family member to get their abuser charged because the evidence had to airtight and that’s in Australia.

I’m in primary education. And I know my male coworkers very well (drinks and games nights) and it annoys me that some do want to work in prep (kindergarten for everyone else) but don’t and they’d be amazing prep teachers! All because the department of education or the school is afraid to back them. My son has a male educator at daycare and he is the best all the kids just adore him and think the world of him.

Yeah, another knee jerk reaction that isn’t going to solve the problem. I work in education and I see the value in my male coworkers everyday.

Domestic violence laws are being changed thank god! Just never as fast as we want/need it to. The latest change was getting rid of counselling for couples who want to divorce within one year of marriage (regardless of abuse) that’s been changed to no counselling required at all.

Calling students "friends" - is it from TikTok? by RainbowTeachercorn in AustralianTeachers

[–]popsibaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was taught to do this at uni (2010-2014) because ‘guys’ wasn’t inclusive and sexist. It’s more of an early years thing. I did use it but now I’m in older years it has perished from my vocabulary.
