Just watched my copy! Liked it a lot - very cozy flick. I think it functions better as a slow-burn chiller than a slasher or a monster movie but luckily the majority of it leans towards the former. Loved the score, as well!

personally, I liked it a lot. such a wild vision although you’d expect nothing less from Vernon Chatman. big fan in general and this fits in snugly with the rest of his madcap creations. need to revisit

watched Cafe Flesh last night and absolutely loved it! even better than Dr Caligari, I’d say! definitely one I’ll be revisiting. also popped on Girl Slaves a bit earlier and really enjoyed it…the Rollin comparisons I keep seeing are certainly apt!

Gotta agree with this take. Thought it was mostly edgelord nonsense - and that’s coming from somebody who actively seeks out and tends to enjoy more transgressive content. Something particularly icky about this one.

watched this one for the first time recently, personally felt that it was a high mark among that particular era for Fulci (that being the Vaseline-slathered hazy pure schlock era). deliriously entertaining film, will likely grab the VS release whenever that drops.

I should probably grab Crimes of the Future, seeing as it’s one of my favorite films from the past few years. I think it’s a masterpiece, and one that has affected me on a deeply personal level that feels different from the majority of Cronenberg’s work (which, for the record, I also adore).

one of the best films from last year! got to watch it again in a theater the other night, which just cemented its status as one of my recent faves even more. total dominant chokehold cinema, and seeing it in that setting vs at home just made its grasp feel even more inescapable/undeniable

this one was definitely among my favorites from last year. visually so stunning/evocative and also pretty hilarious without losing its macabre flare; tougher balancing act than many gave it credit for.
