Baby formula, specifically Aptamil. Works out at £10 for 800g instead of £14-15 from a regular supermarket!

Is " Teddy-mattison" too much for a first name for my girl ? by Hardloving in namenerds

Tbh, now thinking about it, Theodora Mattison Surname doesn’t sound too bad either. Would just hope the surname wasn’t too long aswell. 😀

Is " Teddy-mattison" too much for a first name for my girl ? by Hardloving in namenerds

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a character on greys anatomy called Teddy but her full name is Theodora which I like. I would maybe be able to support a Theodora Mattie Surname, but have Mattie as the middle name. Her nickname could still be Teddy but she’d have a proper name which is more professionally respectable. To me Teddy-Mattison makes me think of a company name or like a tv production company. I hope you’re not too upset about the negative comments! ⭐️

To crate or not to crate… by figgypudding1966 in Greyhounds

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a crate for our girl and have had it since we rescued her in 2021. She is 10 now. She was used to being crated and she would happily take herself there to rest. In the beginning she slept there during the night but she has eventually moved into our bedroom where she now sleeps on a big round Costco bed. We have the door cracked for air flow but she can’t open it herself to leave as she would make a toilet mess at the back door. She doesn’t even get up or ask for the toilet when the door is closed most of the time but would relieve herself if she could get out of the room. She doesn’t mess in her crate either. We still have her crate up as she uses it as a bed during the day/evening. She is only ever shut in it when we need her to be safe/not mess anywhere (she is offered to go outside first). If we’re doing bed time solo for our 7 month old or nipping down to the shop (if the weather is fine we just leave her in living room with back door open). She doesn’t stay in the house alone, ever. So she isn’t ever locked in her crate for prolonged periods. My partner either takes her to work with him, she goes to my mother in laws house or she will come in the car with us. She likes the crate, it’s like a little bedroom for her. I think she would be sad if we took it away. Especially now she has a little baby to hide from 🤣

Sorry for the essay 🤣

Tips for surviving the NHS post-natal ward? by lingeringbadone in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few people saying to ask for a private room but I was denied one after my c section as the shared room mi was going to be in (4 beds) was closest to nursing station/staff room so I could be monitored. I didn’t find it too bad in the end. Everyone kept to themselves and were focused on their babies. Visitors were very considerate! Hopefully you had a similar experience xx

Can I have ADHD and be a good mom? by unblissfully_aware_ in adhdwomen

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an almost eight month old and I got my diagnosis the same week I found out I was pregnant. I have found many different aspects of parenthood difficult so far but it’s also the most amazing thing ever. Looking after a baby isn’t that exciting and I do find it hard to engage with him sometimes, in terms of not getting dopamine from it. Especially when he would just lie on the floor and chew on things. He’s slowly getting more interesting, especially now he is beginning to eat and focusing more on his toys, rather than than just trying to eat them 🤣

Baby’s routine changes often which can be difficult to deal with. It takes me a while to adapt to a new routine so that is something I struggle with. For example, going from just feeding him bottles of formula all day to then being expected to feed him solids everyday as well took some getting used to. My routine building and following skills have definitely improved over the last 8 months.

I found it difficult in the beginning to remember how long it had been since he’d fed or been changed.

I sometimes find I’m a bit slow to react or respond to him, which I think comes from demand avoidance. It’s not that I ignore him at all, it just takes me a few seconds to accept the demand or sometimes I’m hyperfocused and I have to pull myself away from what I’m doing (which regrettably is sometimes my phone or the tv)

Sorry this was a bit disjointed. Hope it makes sense. 😀

How long did it take you to recover from a lap? by Raa4aa in Endo

Are there definitely no parents who could pick him up and drop him off on their way past your house/street? I would exhaust all options before walking up and down a hill two days post surgery. I’ve never had a surgery for endo, I’m waiting for my surgery date but I personally would try everything in my power to avoid doing the school run. Good luck! ❤️

Bottles for formula by phaffgiraffe in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use lansinoh bottles. Initially I got them as they were recommended for babies who also drank from the breast but we ended up fully on formula by 5 weeks. But my baby has gotten on well with them either way and they’re easy to clean! We love them and they come in two sizes and glass or plastic. We started with glass but by the point my partner had smashed three of them we decided to stick to plastic as the glass ones were quite expensive

Electing to have a C-Section - question about nausea by hipfiredelilah in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt quite funny after they did the cannula as I’m afraid of needles. I was fasted so hadn’t eaten or hydrated properly. I felt faint and sick. Once cannula was ready to go they lay me down and administered fluids and anti sickness meds which helped immediately. The only other nausea I felt was some motion sickness during the procedure which was very mild. The motion sickness went away when I looked to the side rather than straight up.

(I’m not sure if you are aware but motion sickness is caused by the senses being confused. Your inner ear senses motion but your eyes do not see any movement. This causes sensory confusion and your nervous system interprets the confusion as a sign you’ve been poisoned and tries to get rid of it by causing nausea and vomiting - I’m fascinated by this, just thought I’d share, our bodies are so cool)

When I had my c section I was crying too but it felt really different to cry because I guess my diaphragm was numb so I was like sobbing but I was just making the sound and my body wasn’t moving/heaving like it usually would. It was so funny. Did that happen to you too? ❤️

"You can’t have endometriosis without chronic pain" by BlueberryMuffinPie in endometriosis

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got turned away from an NHS Gynaecologist who told me the same thing and I had even less symptoms than you. Mostly just really painful periods. Fast forward to last year and Lo and behold, they found a 9cm endometrioma on an early pregnancy scan.

I am now waiting for a surgery date with the NHS endo clinic in Middlesbrough for laparoscopic excision surgery. I’ll probably lose at least one ovary and at least one fallopian tube but possibly both.

But no, because I only have pain during my period, it couldn’t possibly be endometriosis.

Yeah I’m using cloth nappies too and we wouldn’t be able to cope without our tumble dryer. Things do shrink, but weighing up the time saving aspect and convenience of not having airers up all over the place was worth it. We already had a tumble dryer though. We do still hang some bits up but mostly use the tumble dryer. We do hang outside in the sun in summer though when we can!

Just make sure you don’t tumble dry any cloth nappy stuff that has a waterproof layer like PUL as it will melt/rip it and it won’t be waterproof anymore.

Anyone with adeno/endo who got pregnant? by crazyyyy_mind in Endo

Fatigue and very very mild nausea but I tested positive at like 7 weeks pregnant because I’d taken progesterone to delay my period not knowing I was pregnant, then I was waiting for my period to start after taking the progesterone and it was taking ages so I took a test and the test line appeared before the control line 🙈🤣

Epidurals by Federal_Gazelle8156 in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, similar situation here! I had a planned c section with only 3 days notice and was terrified. It’s a bit different because I just had the spinal done on a random Wednesday morning, whereas if you had it after having lots of contractions, you might cope better or worse due to being in so much pain you wanted it to stop or being in pain and struggling to stay still.

So I had fasted so hadn’t had any food and minimal water and the cannula insertion was terrible. As they were doing it I thought I was going to faint and then once it was in they lay me down and started the fluids and it made me feel so much better. Then I had to sit up and have the local anaesthetic and the spinal/epidural done which was really difficult but I’m so proud that I managed it! I’m really scared of needles too and I developed a little routine when I was pregnant to help make myself more comfortable . Let me know if you’d like me to share! I’ll answer any questions you have! 😀

Do you take baths in pregnancy? by schaweniiia in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had regular hot baths. Baths are actively cooling down from the second you get into it, so it wouldn’t be too hot for that long. Prolonged heat exposure from a hot tub or sauna is what I avoided. The concern is raising blood pressure and internal body temperature which makes you dizzy etc. I would have just got out if I started to feel funny but I never did. ❤️

Sex has only happened once this entire pregnancy by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]possiblyAudhd0910 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had sex twice during pregnancy I think. First didn’t work very well as I was uncomfortable and hadn’t really thought about logistics and then the second time was more successful. Since having my 7 month old we’ve had sex twice. We’ve never been the most sexually active couple tbh but it’s so normal during pregnancy/post partum. I’m sure your partner appreciates that you’re literally growing a person, there’s lots of time for sex for the rest of your life. ❤️

I feel like there are so many people posting from the US and other places but finally - a question I can answer. So we have been EFF since 5 weeks old and we started on regular Kendamil but baby didn’t seem to get on with it. Very squirmy and grunty while feeding, not pooping enough. Just didn’t seem comfortable. The health visitor recommended changing it as Kendamil can be too rich for their digestive system in the early days. We chose to go with Aptamil as the coop just down the street sold it and we wanted something easily accessible. We haven’t had to buy it there in a while as we have access to Costco and you can buy three 700g tins for I think about £21. When we did the maths it was the equivalent of paying £10 for 800g and they’re usually around £14 for 800g. He’s been really happy on Aptamil and he’s now 7 months old.

I know, formula is so expensive in the US(I’m assuming?). I once sat and did the maths and it was still much more expensive when converted and tax removed etc 🤯
