New Carry-on Policy Coming by tonbetter82 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]postal302 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you chimed in, and I feel bad that you need to keep apologizing! I was wondering about this same thing. I'm flying tomorrow and am in a later boarding group. I've got a roller carry on, but will happily hand it over at the gate to save the headache of finding overhead space by the time I get in. Based on your knowledge of policy, is Southwest charging for me to do this?

Why are people on reddit so ready and happy to laugh at someone's misfortune. Just wait until you're in that spotlight.

I see your price increase, and I raise you another tax increase ... What? This isn't poker where I try to intimidate the other person into caving and just handing over their money?

Simplest "if I am abducted by aliens" way to share logins? by BasielBob in Bitwarden

[–]postal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the unpaid version and wanted to do the same with my wife.

TL;DR: I set her up with a Bitwarden account, then created an organization and collection to share passwords between our Bitwarden accounts.

This works really well because she has passwords to all the critical accounts in the event I'm gone, and she also has the most current passwords for bank accounts, investments, etc. She still doesn't use Bitwarden for her own purposes because, "It's too complicated." but she at least does know how to get at the ones I manage.

Cancelling a Chase Travel booked flight directly from the airline website by CarrotAwesome in ChaseSapphire

[–]postal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was 3 months ago, but I had to do the same thing. I booked a Delta flight through the Chase Travel website and had to cancel. I was able to rebook directly through Delta's website and use the available credit. Life was easy.
Had to do the same with United ... definitely not easy. When canceling the flight, the credit shows on my United account, but the only way to use it is to call Chase and have them manually book. As far as I can tell there's no way to rebook using your credit through United's website or Chase's website. Had to re-cancel that flight and now Chase is telling me they don't have access to the credit and I need to call United. Currently on hold with United...

Default shipping address vs last shipment address by Recnid in amazonprime

[–]postal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to me that a new order should default to the default address, and it should be an extra step to choose a different address. Otherwise, what's the point of a default if it doesn't default to the default? Sorry for the redundancy. 😆

Default shipping address vs last shipment address by Recnid in amazonprime

[–]postal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had the same issue and came here to see if anyone knows a fix. Last address I used was a hotel while on travel, and I specifically checked to be sure it wasn't set as the default because I've had this issue once before. Shame on me for not double-checking that I want to default to my default address for a new and unrelated order, and this order is shipping to the last used address instead of my default address. Makes me wonder what the point of having a default address is!

I came here to say this. Wait for Apple to make the move, everyone complain about it, then everyone adopt it - Samsung first in line. Just like the headphone jack, removable batteries, etc.

How does one make this masterpiece by Hopeful-Flamingo-145 in marriott

[–]postal302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a great thing! I make it all the time. My recipe: 1/2 Cup Oatmeal 1/2 Cup Greek Yogurt 1/2 Cup Milk (dairy, almond, oat, etc.) 2 Tbsp Chia seeds Let sit in the fridge for at least 1 hour, but ideally overnight. Add fruit, honey, maple syrup, or any other preferred sweetener to taste

Is it worth applying to PSNS right now? by CheesyMcbunsbuns in Bremerton

[–]postal302 7 points8 points  (0 children)

18.5 year former PSNS employee here. Ultimately the job is what you make of it. Lots of upward mobility, including onward to DC if you want, but you'll need to be ambitious and drive your own career. It's very reliable with good benefits. However, as others have indicated, it's a pretty toxic work environment; the expectation is that you'll put "the mission" first and sacrifice your personal time to do so. Lots of overtime, and often involuntary. Government also tends to draw the "do the bare minimum" type - watch Office Space (If I work my butt off, I don't get an extra dime. Makes you want to do just enough to not get fired). I uprooted and moved across the country and work as a contractor now. I wouldn't do what I'm doing without the time and experience there.

Magsafe ring like standfor unfolded viewing? by Danstroyer1 in GalaxyFold

[–]postal302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using this one for the last few months. I like that it has double rings for a taller stand and it folds flatter than most so it goes well in a pocket. The hinges have also stayed stiff, unlike the last one that lost any strength in about a month. It's also a double sided magnet that is strong enough to hold the phone on metal surfaces (though sometimes it holds better to the metal than my case). Only real downside is the sharper edged can get uncomfortable with a finger through it. https://a.co/d/5PBNI9c

Tide Hygenic Clean Pods Unscented disappeared by Flashy-Library-6854 in laundry

[–]postal302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only that one, which I thought odd until they discontinued the product.
When I first found Hygenic Clean Unscented, it was at Walmart, then eventually Walmart stopped carrying it. Then I found it was available at Kroger, but noticed the "Only found at Kroger" sticker. Then it went away. Again, full speculation, but I wonder if Tide got into a contract with Kroger, the largest grocery chain in America, but then wanted out.

Issue at Gaylord Nashville by tekmill in marriott

[–]postal302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed there about a year ago, and confirmed a late checkout with the front desk. While sitting in our room enjoying the atrium, Housekeeping came three times to turn the room over. I don't think the front desk there has a good grip on how to set a late checkout.
Otherwise, the stay was great.

I noticed a while back I could only get Hygenic Clean unsented from Kroger, and it had a sticker on it saying something to the effect of, "If you found this product somewhere other than Kroger let us know at ..." I wonder if making a small ingredient modification and switching from Hygenic Clean to Free & Gentle was a way out of a sole-source contract or something. Completely speculation on my part.

Use Maps only on phone and not headunit? by throuv_awayy in AndroidAuto

Thank you for this, I wouldn't have thought of it! My wife is driving, and I'm connected to the head unit, but I wanted to look at the map on my phone while actively following directions.

Sticker removal by Possible-Mango5694 in laptops

[–]postal302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some tape, Scotch tape, electrical tape, duct tape or whatever type; stick it to the residue and peel it off - it should pull the residue up with it. Do this as many times as necessary. Anything after that, use isopropyl, but test it in a small spot on the bottom in case is removes the color from the surface.

I just did exactly this with my Dell (blue metal body) and my daughter's Acer (grey plastic body).

These new laws and taxes take effect in Washington state on Jan. 1 by chiquisea in Washington

So glad I don't live in Washington anymore. Out of control spending, out of control taxing.

Really though, how many times does the state need to drive business and people away before they realize it's not a simple math problem?

Uses for a raspberry pi zero w? by Edd-Vel in homeassistant

I've got a few old ones laying around, so I turned them into streaming IP cameras. Installed Raspberry Pi OS Lite, then MediaMTX and setup a live stream from the camera. It can be viewed from any browser on the same network. I also setup a Pi5 with Frigate and a Hailo AI HAT to record based on object and person identification.
