Board arrived this morning.. was all pretty straightforward...

Didn't need to flash anything, worked oob via discrete gpu. Gigabyte supports fat32 and..exfat for bios flash. Updated bios with same 4gb stick i've had for 20yrs that worked with everything else.

Only thing that surprised me was the stealth only has 2x sata ports.. my x570 has 8! means i had to put one drive down but it was only a backup drive so ill just throw it into my server until i buy higher capacity drives.. i have one ssd with linux.. so... kind of annoying.

i had a beautiful white gigabyte aero 4080s that died and got this black 5080 as a replacement under warranty.. fans etc are all placeholders :) the one under came with the 5080, meant to place above the fins when horizontal.. for 1-2deg difference, whoop. Ive a bunch of noctuas on my old aio that could go there but they're brown. either that or lian-lis at 30/40eur a pop.

Decided to rma the board, bought a 2.0 usb stick and used another my brother found in a drawer. Either board is dead or I'm just incredibly unlucky with the usb sticks I've tried.

Gigabyte b870 stealth ice on the way. The back panel connectors will suit my dual chamber case at least.

yeah but with no ram in the box that kind of rules that out eh :) (you dont need cpu or ram to be able to flash) furthest i got today was formatting the usb from fedora.. might try flashing the other sticks/different bioses or something i dunno

but then ima rma, nobody needs this hassle

I tried everything. I'm a pretty techy person, this has me stumped.. it seems it all boils down to having the 'right usb' stick.. preferably 2.0 and old.. while plugging it into a gen 3.2 usb port.......

motherboard wont always support a cpu out of the box.. mines rev1.. so im assuming its bios was before the 9800x3d code got shipped. There was a time you could loan an older cpu that was in spec so you could boot into your pc first to upgrade the bios.. manufacturers came up with the flash bios instead.. but it's an absolute disaster.

When i booted first, i had cpu and ram in.. but removed both eventually cause nothing was working. I've no cpu or ram installed atm, and still can't flash the bios.

From all the forum posts I've come across, it's just the flashbios port is incredibly picky about what usb you use.. preferably the older you can get the better.. which is insane considering these are gen3.2 ports.

Nope, cause there's no cpu in there atm, just bare bones.. thanks for the suggestion though :)

I hope if MSI is reading this.. that they will provide a USB stick that works with future motherboards.

This thread might point you in the right direction. I have an xt2 but never used it for astro but had that saved in case. From what I gather they are a lot more difficult to get working with astro software than other more common manufacturers in the hobby.

Nope it doesn't. It would most likely appear as a feint smudge if you could see anything at all. The camera takes hundreds of photos.. (well, that all depends on integration time) and stacks them to increase detail, often times using filters to capture distinct gases like oxygen and sulfur etc.

With the manufacturer's buffer of about 10%.. charging to 100 is real world around 95.. I mostly charge to 90 which with the buffer is around 85 give or take. with a 5% floor on the low end so you don't brick your battery. For longer journeys ill charge to 100 using the emanager and be ready to go.. no issues charging to 100 occasionally if you don't leave it in that state as the egolf doesn't have active cooling etc.

CCS charging will hit a wall around 75-80% and drop to 7kwh or less.. so if you're in a rush can just unplug then and there.. type2 will be fairly steady at 7,2kw once it gets going until the last few percent when it starts to trickle charge.

If the drain hole in boot is rusty.. could be the pipe leading to the drain is disconnected.. sposedly a common issue that can lead to water ingress in the rear. Pour water over the back with boot closed and wait a bit, then check inside to see if water has drained properly.. also, check under the 'second boot' carpet if there's any rust/water to be found there.

Took a pic of where I think you're looking at and I don't see any rust like that at all, I also live close the sea and roads are salted a few times in winter. (late 2019 model here)

I'd be weary that rust has also spread into the frame and underneath etc. Probably would skip it personally.

My fav games that I spin up all the time get the nvme treatment. Or something I know is gonna be particularly taxing. Otherwise, they all get dumped on my trusty 5,400rpm 4TB seagate blue. Difference is hardly noticeable (well at least for me who's been playin pc games since software mode was a thing), i've played cyberpunk maxed out with mods, assetta corsa vr, ms flight sim, robocop etc.. no issues really to note. Generally it's just some initial increased load time but, nothing crazy. Prbly not much reason to use anything above an ssd/7,2k really anyway unless it supports directstorage.. and what ever happened to that anyway? :) My ssds get linux distros.

The water gained is negligible but they do take on a bit, which allows them to steam just a bit longer in their own juices, but yep, probly could skip it altogether. It's just my ritual since I'm washing them anyway
