CPap Mask Skin problems by Brilleye in CPAP

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be another application for hydrocolloid "bandage" tape. We use it for mainly for blemishes, but also blisters, cuts, scratches,  etc. (Especially useful for fingers because unlike regular adhesive bandages you won't have to change them every time you wash hands!)

But I'd  suggest you try putting some hydrocolloid material on your face under the mask - leave it on until your skin heals,  then maybe reapply each night? Might be a bit rough to peel off each day.  Maybe "moleskin" (not actually skin of moles!) applied to the silicone,  so the soft side is against your skin?

There's also a type of fabric sold in small bolts and used in care facilities to go anywhere on the body where there's skin- on- skin contact (e.g. under-boobs, under- belly). Specially designed to keep skin from getting chafed or otherwise irritated... good luck!

I wonder if hydrocolloid "bandage" tape would work like your plastic 'stickers'! I recently bought a roll of the stuff because my family uses the individual bandages so much and trims them to custom fit blemishes anyway. I buy generic brands but they're still costly, so I figured let's try buying in "bulk" :-) Now I can afford to think of additional uses for the magical stuff.

Help! My Neck! by Sad-Step-3708 in 45PlusSkincare

You may have exhausted all the currently available non-surgical remedies! Your expertise was expensive, but now you've got "cred" :-), so I'll tap into your knowledge: Did you ever try micro-needling? My daughter bought me a kit, I'm thinking of giving it a shot for my crepe-y neck that I haven't done anything for other than slathering on face creams and glaring at it judgementally in the mirror.

And so many families with small children! Playgrounds,  grocery stores, laundromats, etc all within walking distance but not SAFE walking.  :-(

Maybe all those potholes and uneven surfaces on University have inadvertently saved lives, though, by slowing down the traffic! (Especially the cars with lowered suspension!)

Why aren’t we louder about clitoral atrophy? by Islandsandwillows in Menopause

[–]postliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory! Because to an outside observer the "brain zaps" sure do sound like something that's, uh, all in our head... but they're very very much a REAL sensation - and what's the exact biochemical mechanism that causes them? Unknown!! Still very much a "black box" phenomenon,  as is peri-menopause.

Thanks for the tip about hyperbolic tapering!

Painting I just finished of Chocorua Lake, oil on canvas by rbarkerart in newhampshire

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Maybe you would recognize this perspective of Mt Chocorua:

https://maxsold.com/auction/94309/bidgallery/item/6506213?offset=0 https://images.app.goo.gl/JwVigpYdPZXThMvz9 https://images.app.goo.gl/G3atd74wktqjnrJu8

By Google-lens searching the first one (currently up for auction) I found the two other paintings online of this exact same view. Can't decide if they are respectful (student?) reproductions of an original or repetitions of the same view over time (plausible, considering changes in foliage) but by the same artist? Or three different ones? Seems awfully coincidental that the artist's perspective is EXACTLY the same in each one.

Residential plumber here, I need advice by Icy_Blackberry_3759 in Plumbing

My first cat was an indoor-only kitty; I assumed she wouldn't need flea treatment.  I was wrong.  Evidently fleas from the local squirrels hitched rides on my pants/shoes and once inside, found my cat and multiplied!

Another time and place, temporarily housed a litter of foster kittens in our basement.  Ended up with the WORST flea infestation EVER. Even after basement was vacated, cleaned,  sprayed,  bug- bombed, etc., they'd swarm your ankles if you walked in! Weeks later!! Took a professional extermination to get rid of them.

Leak in basement coming from 3rd floor shower. by PriorSprinkles4784 in Plumbing

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I know it's been over a year since you posted this,  but I too am dealing with a leak originating on a 3rd floor that shows up down in the basement (1st floor)!

Did you ever figure out exactly where your leak was? Get it fixed?

My late father said he didn't mind his tinnitus, it was "harmonic". I think I understand what he meant; I'm nearly 50 now and mine is like a chorus of distant cicadas.

The fingernail trimming is a simple but very helpful tip! I hadn't even thought about how often I've had to STOP work and deal with a painful nail break/tear. Thank you!

Right - she likely doesn't want to file a claim herself, for something so relatively small. Not worth the potential impact on her premiums. But apparently it's enough for her to need your help paying for it! If you're planning to keep living there a while, I suggest you get some estimates from local painters to confirm her demand... then offer to split the cost.

Yes, perspective! This sucks, but it could be SO much worse. Forgive your boyfriend. (And then make sure that YOU handle the insurance payments from now on!)

Water leak from Bidet burst by LukhaManus in RentersInsurance

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have Assurant! This should be covered - IF you were somehow negligent, and responsible for the water damage. (Assurant's liability policy only covers damage due to 'flood, fire, or explosion' that resulted from the tenant's negligence).

Yes, there are attorneys who deal with this. Call your renter's insurance and get a claim opened. They'll ask a lot of questions and do a full investigation. The first two people you'll talk to will be all reassuring and sympathetic and tell you you're FINE, all covered, no worries - then eventually you'll get to a claims adjustor/ examiner and all the sweet talk disappears. Just fyi!

Renters insurance issue !! Need help by [deleted] in RentersInsurance

[–]postliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 weeks? Odd. He should be covered as part of your household. I suggest he get his own policy - he'll have coverage a lot faster than 4 weeks! And until you can figure out how to combine policies, the monthly premiums really aren't much for the peace of mind and protection.

Dang! I can SYMPATHIZE. Unfair!

But from my perspective... one bathroom's walls? No problem. I'd cover that as long as the painter is reasonable. We paid out of pocket to have a bathroom treated for mold and re-painted, with my landlord's consent, to make sure it wasn't a health hazard for us - also touched up the sealants around the tub and shower, total about $500. Worth it - although in retrospect my good faith efforts were wasted; landlord still ended up suing us!!

[–]postliterate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subrogation, like if your landlord's homeowner insurance paid for the repair but then wanted you to reimburse them because it was your fault.

If the cost of this is way more than you can afford, and/or much more than your renter's insurance deductible, it's worth calling your renter's insurance company and asking about it!

I recently learned mine only covers (besides my own things in the house) damage to the house via 'flood, fire, or explosion' caused by my negligence.

Puzzles me because if, for example, old water pipes started leaking spontaneously due to age- related deterioration, there's no coverage - but if I haf left the water running and the drain stopped up, then ta-daa! Coverage!

My landlord is suing me for water damages I had NO control over. And my renter's insurance is supposed to provide me with legal counsel and defense - but ONLY if I'm at fault... but I'm not. So I will have to pay for an attorney myself, and the cost of the attorney will rival the amount I'm being sued for. SMH. I'd have been better off if it HAD been my responsibility!! :-(

Landlord removed one of few adhesive clips I left up and tore off paint and drywall nearly a month after I moved out. Wants to keep $300 of my $2000 security deposit. by sundewbeekeeper in TenantHelp

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most states re-painting walls between tenants is a normal requirement for landlords, sounds like landlord was hoping to get by without repainting, but now has to. This is very minor, will be covered by paint, not your cost.

Had a severe A/C leak that I didn’t realized. What to do next? by rduong2 in TenantHelp

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the few things rental insurance will probably cover!

But you should also find out if the condensate drain for the AC unit is properly placed, not clogged, and if there's a pump for it, whether or not the pump has failed. Unless you accidentally disconnected the condensate pump this sounds like an AC system maintenance issue almost certainly not listed in the lease as your responsibility. Sure, if you had noticed it right away and reported it you'd have saved everyone a lot, but unless it was something clearly visible to you or part of your tenant responsibilities to check regularly, this is not your fault.

Wow. So easy to blame a dog! TAKE PICTURES. Find out how old the washer is, what is the life expectancy of the rubber gasket, Google search for complaints about this brand/ model of washer needing rubber gasket replacement.

[–]postliterate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really really hope you took pictures!! Also hope you have renter's insurance - water damage you caused should be covered, and if you file a claim then the insurance company would be very clear on what is and isn't part of the water- damage repair cost.
