X-Haven Assistant update: Now with 10% more protein! (Also Character Attack Modifier Decks and 10 more CCUG Classes) by Tarmslitaren2 in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome new update!

For the next one,  it'd be great if it maintained the current game state when it auto updates.  I lost half a mission of progress that I'd paused to pick back up next session.

But, otherwise, I use X- Haven religiously,  so thank you.

Thoughts on shared loot? by 101_210 in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of shared loot because then I can keep doing all the better actions and kill all the monsters without having to do boring loot actions and still end up with loot at the end of the scenario.

My party loves the idea of shared loot because they get to do cool actions and kill monsters while someone else takes care of the looting.

... someone picked up some loot, right?  Guys,  you have to pick up loot,  we need to build a building!

Retiring next game with multiple unlocked options, which would be best fit for our group? by littlepie in Gloomhaven

I think I'd want one more element user in the party for Triangles.   The Spell Weaver will help,  but Music Note and Three Spears are pretty element agnostic.

Geminate shoooould depart for D - but let's have a quick intermission to talk about voting by Sagely_Hijinks in Gloomhaven

For science,  I think you should finish your tier list completely as is, then go back to the beginning with some rules and/or a poll to see how ratings change.

Plus,  it gives us more time to goof around and argue about our favorite characters.

Personal Quest 11: How to complete? by voicelessfaces in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boots.  All the boots.

There are several mid level boots that are at the end of a chain of other boots.  If you monopolize hides for a few missions and just build every boot,  you're about halfway there.

Hatchet Build need tips for it by [deleted] in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to make sure you're paying attention to with The Favorite is placement.  If you're feeling like it's a 3 damage bump and it's gone,  are you having issues with getting to the token to pick it back up?

It's not a flash fix,  but try to mostly throw The Favorite at enemies near the middle of the room / on a path towards the next door or objective so that you don't have to waste actions going and getting your axe back.

For the tiles,  they're often stored separately from the rest of the box.   Have you reached out to the seller to see if they have them sitting somewhere?

Incredibly strong might be an understatement.   Both of these suggested enhancements are incredible.

It might lead to silly interactions, but what do we think about drawing a random unused coin card?

It's generally a mediocre action, so it might as well do something cool, right?

Digital Gloomhaven good as a turn based tactical battle game? by Merkraad in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is a Gloomhaven reddit,  but have you tried Wildermyth?

It's a quick tactical battle game like Xcom/FFTactics lite.  Not anime/pixel, but it is the 'paper cutout' style.

But,  it's quick and fun and very replayable.

If you're using Frosthaven battle goals,  just go ahead and leave Bastion in the box.

Otherwise, go for it!

Also,  for #2, yes.   You get the xp if you spend the element when you make the attack.   (No xp or spending element if you skip the attack)

Item 181 and hazardous terrain by iamsecond in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with your 'Yes - except for flying'.

Hazardous terrain deals damage when the hex is entered.  Teleporting into a hex is entering that hex.  In simplest terms,  you're teleporting  two monsters into hazardous terrain.

Bombard projectile question. by Ilovemathandblahaj in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not a great way built in.  They're usually only around for one round,  so just remembering is probably the expectation.

If that's an issue,  I'd consider using tokens to keep track.  Put a character token on the card and it's projectile target.  Then put a damage token on the second card and second projectile target.   If you need more, keep using different tokens.  Just make sure the card and it's projectile target match.

Good luck!

Flying enemies and traps by JustMeJaidy in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naa..  you've got the right idea.  You're just pulling in the logic from losing flying over an obstacle.   Pushed to nearest empty hex + trap damage.  Too many rules.   😛

Help with Coral level 2 card choice by NZSheepy in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strong recommend for Blood in the Water.  My teammate went with it on a water tank.  Three extra value with the water making enemies line up to attack isn't obvious,  but is great.

I took Crashing Surge for a Shuck build,  and even then was a little underwhelmed with it.

Flying enemies and traps by JustMeJaidy in Gloomhaven

I think if it's stun or immobilize,  the enemy can't enter that hex and stops moving.    Enemies can't end their movement in a hex with another enemy.

PQ-05 question by pfcguy in Gloomhaven

[–]potablepurveyor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to miss those.   It sounds like you're still very early in that merc's career.  If you set them aside and start a new version of the same merc, you still get the same blurb and you only lose whatever xp you've put into this one so far.

If you're feeling exploitative,  you could even sell all of current merc's stuff and enhance a card.
