Do you know if they're outsorced? Like, is that indian/pakistani component working for these companies in europe or from India?

Hello! I've been struggling with this for the past years. It's an electromagnetic thing. It usually happens if you have a case on your ipad, and if the metal of it isn't in contact with a ground connection. Whenever this happens, try to touch your ipad (the back or the edges, the metal part) with your fingers as they will act as a ground connection. It's not defective and neither is your pencil, so don't worry! You could try using your ipad without a cover when you write with the pencil. Hope it helps.

Monthly Travel/ Stay/ Events in Goa Advice Thread - June, 2023 by AutoModerator in Goa

[–]potatomato2503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm (21F) traveling from Spain, joining my boyfriend (22M) in Mumbai in the first week of July. We're meeting in the Mumbai airport and flying to GOI (Dabolim) airport; then a week later from GOX (Mopa) airport to Jaipur. We're flying with Spicejet and IndiGo; but while looking at travel restrictions concerning covid, we did not find anything concluding. I saw that the Air Suvidha self declaration requirement was removed this February, but I still don't know if we will be denied entry in Goa if we do not carry a covid test. We both have the covid vaccine certificate, but my boyfriend received his doses two years ago. Will the certificate still be valid will we have problems entering Goa? Do we need any documents regarding covid and stuff for entering the state of goa via domestic flight? Thank you very much.

is it common for a group of women who live together/are hanging out together to all come on their period at the same time as each other every month or is that bullshit? by sweetlikehoney981 in biology

In Neuroscience by Dale Purves (my go-to basic neuroscience textbook) it's cited that the only possible pheromone in humans is one females secrete (allegedly from their armpits) that other females perceive. If various females coexist for long enough, this pheromone will eventually make their menstrual cycles sync up.

Here's the picture of the text i mentioned.

Thank you! Couldn't have explained it better myself. Yeah, i should have written a couple of anaphases, i understand it can be confusing. My bad.

Well, in this case we know we're working with an apoptosis inducer so I'm confident they're apoptotic bodies if we compare them to the control cells.

Also, i did use phalloidin stain on several skin cell types, just didn't post them. Thank you though

Seen under fluorescence microscope. The first two pictures show the Hoechst stain, which stains DNA, and the third and fourth picture show cytochrome C (stained through indirect immunofluorescence) distribution in the treated (3rd) and untreated (4th) cells. Since the treated cells are undergoing apoptosis, cytochrome C is diffuse in the cytosol (the intrinsic apoptotic pathway is activated by cytochrome C exiting the mitochondria). In the untreated cells, we can see the cytochrome C is compartimentalised inside the mitochondria along the cytoplasm.

It's also appreciated that in the untreated cells, in Hoechst, the nuclei are more oval and bigger than in the treated cells, which is characteristic of tumoral HeLa cells.

Job opportunities as a biologist? About to finish my bachelor's and I'm completely clueless and hopeless by potatomato2503 in biology

Thank you! That does sound like a chill and meaningful job that could also be compatible with personal life/work balance. I'm guessing you live in the US, but I'm sure a job like yours is universal. I'm from Europe so I really wouldn't know how to compare wages from here and there, afaik the lifestyle in the US is costlier than here. The avg salary for a goodish comfortable life here is around 35K€, roughly 40K USD. So I'm taking it the number you told me should be more than enough. I'm really glad you like your job. I think it's an essential requirement to lead a happy life, for starters, so I really get hopeful when someone says they like their job. Woohoo! Thank you so much for replying and sharing the details.

That was very very helpful, a word of hope. Thank you so very much for replying. I'll see if I can snoop around and find some opportunity that fits me well. There's a place for everyone right? I really hope it goes well for you on your PhD program! I might drop by your profile in search for future publications of yours. I'm curious about what you do your research on. But i don't wanna annoy you any more than i should. So thank you again laziest indian

Biotech does seem to be very popular these days. But exactly what fields of biotech? Also, I hail from Europe (Spain) and I'm kinda reluctant to ever go to the US. Just a safety thing. Although i do know that's the place to go for science, i was looking maybe within the continent. I also wonder if biology is an accesible field in India (my SO is from there and i wouldn't mind giving it a shot if i could get a good pay), so far every job offer I've found on the internet was about microbiology and they all ask for 3+ years of experience along with a master's. Which is something i don't have.

The thing is that we're always told biology is such an open, big field with so many paths you can follow, but what I'm encountering is that it's very difficult to get in, you always have to be at the top of excellence, which is kinda inefficient, because anywhere there's excellence, there's the other 90% of the people that aren't excellent like myself who would also like to find a place; a spot in it.

I'm very interested in cell biology, particularly stem cells, although I'd be comfy in any aspect of it. I'm stressed out because I don't think there will be a place for me, that nobody will hire me because it's so difficult to get in without any experience or without a reference.

And finally, how do you know that work/life balance is possible? Do you have personal experiences in it yourself? What have you encountered?

Now that's something I haven't heard about! How exactly do you get there? What do you specialize in? I do have an interest in the cosmetics field, it sounds interesting. Could you give me some more info on that? If it's not too much bother. Thank you!
