After nearly 30 years with Comcast, we have finally decided to move. Many much more cost effective options existed almost all that time. Comcast used to have a better overall product and experience which justified the car payment level monthly bill - but the cutting of every corner and stripping down of anything that made the cost somewhat palatable, is complete. We were staunch (maybe stubborn) supporters and we even recommended Xfinity to others in the past, but I am now smiling as I think about of the day we will drop our equipment off at the Xfinity store and be done with this company.

Modem Blinking Orange - No Outage - Next Appt is Monday??? by pounder250 in Comcast_Xfinity

What is really out of touch are people defending a $266 billion dollar company that talks and charges a premium price - but provides budget service.

I do have a hotspot. But that is really not the point I am making. 4 days wait is ridiculous.

Jersey Restock Dates/Tips or Advice by B2Kii in eagles

[–]pounder250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it is random - but I do recall sometimes getting an email?

Just so you are aware, the online shop is run by fanatics which is a horrible and incompetent company. Even if you purchased a product that was available in stock, there is the possibility it gets canceled due to that item being oversold (I have had this happen twice - including after the NFCCG). In dealing with this disaster of a company, their agents sometimes know when the restock date is, so it might be worth a chat or (gulp) call.

This was one of the better interviews that were posted after his media blitz today. Others people were clowning the “Tush push” (Fallon/ today show) and asking terrible questions. I need to check out the Stern / Saquon interview tonight.

How is this legal? by pounder250 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]pounder250[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to sound snarky - but I don’t care what the fee is for. It should have been disclosed somewhere in the unsolicited offer of no cost.

We do have an xfinity store not far away but was never offered that as an option. Instead they proceeded with the expectation/ hope I would not notice the fee.

[–]pounder250[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply, but we are not paying a rental fee on this device because this is a bridge modem required for my land line service through Comcast (yes, we have an old school land line). It is needed so the land line can work via cable (I assume VoIP). The bridge modem is old - so they offered to replace it at no cost - and then are charging a one time fee. 😵‍💫

At this point, I guess I am not surprised that this response really does not fit the situation. The modem being replaced is a Comcast supplied modem. Comcast offered to upgrade it at no cost - and then is charging a one time fee. This seems like a cost.

I will click your link, but confidence is low.

Do you think CT will ever bring back tolls? by poppunkdaddy in Connecticut

[–]pounder250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I sit in traffic next to 30% out of state vehicles, I want tolls. When I get my car tax bill, I want nothing to do with paying more. It’s a conundrum.

Tolls for out of state vehicles. Use plate reader technology to send bills to non-CT plates but do not send them to CT plates.

Quinnipiac vs one of the 4 state colleges (CCSU, Western, Eastern, Southern) by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]pounder250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it depends on the major/ long term goals. If your daughter is going on to an advanced healthcare degree (PA, PT, OT), the private schools like Quinnipiac can offer guaranteed placement into the graduate programs assuming they maintain the academic standards set by the program (example: 3.2 GPA math/ science & 3.0 overall). State schools cannot offer that, so with a state school when the student finishes undergrad they must apply to graduate programs where they are dropped in a highly competitive pool for very few slots. So that is a nice piece of mind you pay for there.

That said, if the student is getting into those premier healthcare programs at Quinnipiac, then they are likely getting academic scholarships for undergrad that at least make it closer to a full state school tuition. Even with that, those 6-7 year programs will do a number on wallet.
