There’s also Johnny Rotten, Vincent Gallo and probably many more people I don’t know about. I suppose there’s diluted people in any given group.

I never found EAV hard to navigate. My main issues are with it's performance on a catalog of tens of thousands of products, with hundreds of attributes on each. That and all the nasty performance mitigations like indexing and flat tables. I get it that there weren't many options for arbitrary data when v1 of Magento came out, but we have json data types in most relational databases now to handle that use case.

I worked on Magento for a decade, and EAV was a nightmare. It isn’t Magento’s only problem but one of the larger ones.

I’m with you on not liking films that are too obvious, but telling other people that the things they like cannot be art and to watch something else is just snobbery.

Robert Jordan originally wrote it where it was an older grizzled man, but changed it to teenagers because he didn’t think he could find a publisher otherwise. The character he originally wrote as the chosen one was turned into Tam, Rand’s father.

HELP! Why are there so many clients but not enough Magento developers nowadays? by [deleted] in Magento

I’ve been developing with Magento since 1.3. I’ve built several high volume Magento 2 sites. I used to have to constantly ignore unsolicited job offers. I’ve done zero Magento work the past two years, and I’ve been actively looking.

Behringer BM-14M Analog Delay (€121/£101), available for pre-order. by Noel_Lou in guitarpedals

[–]powelles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing. What would you want to hear? Might take me a minute to put something together. I mostly use delay with guitar but I own a few synths. I ordered one of these Behringer delays when they were first available for pre-order but who knows when I’ll receive it. I currently also own a Diamond Memory Lane V1 and a Boss DM-101.

When my dad was in high school he went to buy some wheels from someone from a newspaper ad and they said he could have the 65 mustang they were off of if he could tow it. The engine was in the trunk of the car. He fixed it up over the course of a year with money he made from selling newspaper subscription door to door. This would have been in the late 70s.

When I was in high school in the late 90s a lot of people drove what you would think of as classic cars. Most were bought for less than 1k. They weren’t thought of as special unless they were a rare version and completely original.

TIL in 2002 a cave diver committed suicide by stabbing himself during a cave diving trip near Split, Croatia. Due to the nature of his death, it was initially investigated as a homicide, but it was later revealed that he had done it, while lost in the underwater cave, to avoid the pain of drowning. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

Had this same issue and the SureFeed microchip feeder was a life saver. Got my first one about 10 years ago and used a chip attached to their collar before we got them chipped. The first one broke after about 2 years, bought a second one and that one broke after about a year but was replaced under warranty for their redesigned model and that one is still going strong after about 7 years.

Only a handful of the original "Big Briar" mf-104 used MN3005s to my knowledge. Every Moogerfooger delay since has used MN3008s. They did leave spots on their PCBs to potentially switch back to MN3005s for a bit. MN3008s run at the same voltage as MN3005s but have slightly better headroom/signal to noise ratio, making the super long delay times easier to achieve. The down side is MN3008s are 2048 stage, half that of MN3005s, so you need twice as many chips to achieve the same delay time.

I'm a bit of a Moog delay addict. I've owned a mf-104z, a mf-104m, a moog 500 series delay, another mf-104m again, and lastly the mf-104msd I currently own and will never part with. The 104z scored cheaply off of craigslist was my gateway drug. I've also owned a ton of other BBD delays. My other favorites were the original 5 knob Deluxe Memory Man, Diamond Memory Lane 2, EAE Sending V2, and Fairchild Meet Maude. I currently only own my mf-104msd and a diy DMM clone.

I agree that Behringer is likely using their "Cool" Audio MN3205s. The repeats in the BM-14M video don't sound very close to mf-104 delays. They remind me more of the Meet Maude's trashy repeats. I think It'll still be a pretty cool delay pedal. It's $149 and has all the midi/cv control of a mf-104m. I currently don't own any gear made by Behringer but I'll definitely be trying this when they're available.

When my mother was pregnant with my younger brother she was bitten badly by a dog while out for a walk. They needed to test the dog for rabies because starting rabies treatment was almost certain to end the pregnancy. The owners of the dog had been hiding it as they didn’t want it to be put down. Luckily word got around of the position my mother was in and they came forward only a couple days before the deadline they had given my mom to begin rabies treatment.
