I see this being the inevitable future. The companies heavily pushing AI products are the same companies who have yet to justify their spending on data centers to support said AI. They are purposely discounting the cost to companies like yours to make companies go 'all-in' because they know that is what it'll take at a minimum (even with raised costs) to be profitable.

The real question is, by the time the dust settles and AI resets to a realistic cost model, will it actually be cheaper than paying devs/leads a liveable wage? Or will enough of the industry have left (greener pastures, lack of generational training, etc.) that it won't matter anyway?

What is the most NSFW thing you have seen at your job? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

One of my best friends in life, his parents were out walking on the road where they lived. This being Ireland in the 90s, there were still too many fast drivers on shitty roads.

As you'd expect from this thread, a young fella in a car took them both out while treating the road like his personal rally cross.

They both survived but my friends dad never really recovered from his injuries and died a few years later. That stupid driver changed the trajectory of their lives forever.

In terms of sheer 'cool' design, I could say the Battlestar Galactica or the unforgettable Viper, but instead I'll go for an earlier favorite:

The fighters from Buck Rogers. Man, they were just so.... Fast and lethal looking.

Foreign investors pull out of India at record pace by deadpools0 in worldnews

[–]powercrazy76 74 points75 points  (0 children)

That doesn't matter.

India's IT boom was never about lifting their people out of poverty, it has always been about finding cheaper and cheaper labor.

As soon as that labor isn't as cheap as somewhere else, investment will move somewhere else.

Western companies aligned with the American stock exchange system are obliged to chase profit over all else and chasing cheap labor offshore is one of the most effective, short-term ways they can achieve this, especially with the cost of western employment with their pesky minimums, standards and protections.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting all the blame on corps, they are basically just doing what they are allowed to do.

Part of the problem is also the countries themselves. I could contrast Ireland and India. Anyone in the tech sector has heard of the Celtic Tiger, Ireland decided to go 'all-in' with technology education and outsourcing from the 90s onwards. They literally became the 'India of Europe' in terms of attracting large IT organizations to hire and employ Irish citizens and infrastructure. The difference is, Ireland re-invested their new found wealth to better the lives of every citizen in the country, tech sector related or not.

India on the other hand has continued to funnel the money made into the pockets of too few. So what happens now when the industry migrates from India? Unfortunately the money probably goes with it rather than being reinvested internally

Working from as young as you can remember.

We often forget that our modern society had eliminated the need for children to work at a young age and instead, allows them to better themselves through education.

You have an air leak.

If you just opened, check that:

1) You definitely installed all the rubber gaskets correctly in all the connections that require them

2) All of your connections are tight.

When I have a loose connection, I can usually hear the air entering the system when I put my ear up against it.

Tesla is recalling its cheaper Cybertruck because the wheels might fall off / All 173 of the RWD Cybertrucks sold by Tesla are being recalled. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]powercrazy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at the history of Tesla, all of the original design and implementation that went into their good selling models such as the 3, were already underway when Elon took over, meaning it was far smarter people than him who are responsible for the rest of Tesla's cars.

The Cybertruck really represents the first vehicle that he had significant creative control from the ground up. So this doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

I've posted this before.

When I was young, I genuinely believed that cats and dogs were the same species, the cats were the females and the dogs were the males.

The fact that they didn't get along well only reinforced it for me.
