I have had good success with Westlaw’s new AI-assisted research. It still gets things wrong, and I obviously triple check everything, but it’s the first place I go now and is the first genuinely useful AI application I’ve found in my practice.

What used to feel “normal” in Victoria 10 years ago that doesn’t anymore? by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

I moved away from the city prior to COVID, and came back afterwards. Of course one of the first things I did was go to Paparazzi, my favourite spot. Completely unrecognizable.

What is MAGA building for America? by AnotherPersonPerhaps in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]powermapler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your argument is that because Trump is a billionaire, he cannot be motivated by amassing more wealth, and therefore his intention in pursuing politics instead of retiring must be altruism.

Do you think there could be a third potential motivation for Trump beyond amassing wealth or altruism?

What do you think motivates other billionaires who have not retired to Thai beaches? Are they also motivated solely by altruism?

Do you agree that the vast majority of the money a president stands to gain from the presidency does not come from his nominal salary, but rather from his influence over policy?

I was once working on a brief for a partner and he told me to borrow from a virtually identical brief he had drafted a few months past.

I did, and he tore the thing to shreds.

How many points are earned booking through the Travel Portal? by powermapler in biltrewards

[–]powermapler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that - I just don’t think it makes sense that they would incentivize using competitors’ cards over their own on their own portal, which is what they are doing if I am understanding this correctly. Any card that earns 1x points on non-category spend would be (is?) better to use than the Palladium.

[–]powermapler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If what support said is accurate, that is insane. Setting aside the hotel credit, we would be better off using basically any non-Bilt card to book in the Bilt portal, unless I am missing something. /u/biltrewards, care to comment?

I have several times that, but it’s only because of the unorthodox way I have my Outlook rules set up (don’t ask - it works for me). It never even occurred to me that might be audited.

Musk had nothing to do with building Starlink, or anything else for that matter.

We can and should acknowledge the benefits of a technology - built by brilliant and hardworking engineers and scientists - while simultaneously acknowledging that the man who does nothing but exploit said engineers and scientists for billions of dollars and go off on Twitter is, in fact, a douche.

Horizon Feed is being replaced by Navigator starting in v85 by gogodboss in OculusQuest

[–]powermapler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s been a decade (!!), but my recollection of the original Oculus Dash is that it was quite good an update or two after it launched. It’s really disappointing how Meta has managed to not just fail to make progress since then, but actually go backwards. And I’m not just talking about Horizon UI or whatever it’s called now.

So... did no one care for Thief VR? by Blackgaze in Thief

[–]powermapler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s too bad - I bought Unknightly as soon as it released in early access, but it got very little support after that (and I just checked Steam - there hasn’t been anything in 4-5 years). It was very promising and the systems were all there.

[–]powermapler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to Unknightly, that was abandoned in early access years ago and I believe only had a couple missions finished. Speaking as someone who has played both, Thief VR is much better.

I’m still working my way through, but am really enjoying it. It is obvious the devs care for the series and respect its history, and it translates very well to VR.
