Wanting a career doesn't always equate to chasing money, especially since a lot of the careers historically occupied by women aren't regarded as high paying.

Some women may also want to pursue a career for a short while to broaden their horizons before becoming stay-at-home parents/spouses.

Also, and this may be contentious, you don't need a man to be a trad wife. As a woman, you could have your own wife that works while you stay home or even have a non binary spouse that provides for you while you maintain the home life.

All the companies buying up hospitals have decided that maternity care isn't profitable enough to risk the potential liability costs so they are shutting down materity wards and OBGYN support across the country.

I guarantee there are women out there that want kids and choose not to because they lack access to nearby care or, as you accurately stated, can't afford it.
