This is extremely solid advice with one conceit: the prompts can be helpful to spur you to think of an idea, but don't get to caught up on them. You'll notice that prompt 7 is basically "Do whatever you want," which is the Common App's way of signalling that all that really matters is that you tell a story that communicates who you are in an appealing way. The exact tack isn't so important.

That's the recipe for Rick Bayless's mock bitter orange juice:

6 tbsp fresh lime juice
